Guest Chaser81 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Everytime I try and load up Modaco on my Imate Jam, I get a message saying "Press OK to continue loading this page".... Okay, I think, it doesnt explain why but what the heck? So I press Ok. The page finishes loading and then as soon as I hit "Log In" or "Forums", it starts to load the new page and then appears to 'crash'. Internet Explorer will close itself down and I kicked back to the Today screen. This happens EVERY single time I try to get onto Modaco and a couple of times its happened on other web sites. Anyone have any idea whats going wrong? Also, is there a good (Free preferably) alternative to Internet Explorer for PPC?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Opera? I have no issues with modaco on my MDA Compact, the prompt i think is to warn you against downloading large chunksd of data on one webpage...
Guest mavisdavis Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I get this on my C500 and it was doing my head in. Try madbeetles website that always threw me cabk to the homescreen:(

Roll on the "imminent" ROM update for the Jam then!
Guest MitchellO Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Could it be a memory problem? you may not have enough memory free, and when it gets full, the ppc starts to shutdown progs. That might be the problem. I used to get memory errors on my old PDAs, but i learnt to install only the essentials that i need on internal RAM (today stuff, the basics) and any progs i want to use when i use my Sandisk WiFi (mainly installed these progs on the ROM). Havent had any memory errors yet. I have gotten that message a few times, but not often.
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Pretty sure it isnt a memory issue. At the times it was happening yesterday, PIE was the only thing open and I had 16MB of program memory and 6MB of storage memory available before starting. I cant believe PIE is THAT memory hungry.
Guest dom Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 If you can't get it to work with IE, perhaps you could try NetFront (it's an alternative browser - also has Java applet support). Does cost $30 unfortunately though I'm trying it out on a free trial at the moment and have found it to be quite good with sites that IE seems to have trouble with.

It doesn't work with PIE, and I'm told it's something to do with Java, so I wondered if this would be more successful. Ta. Pete.
Guest namiran Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 try a program called ftxPBrowser...

I do have a 'book on cd' called Design Patterns (it's basically a copy of the book in HTML format), and that complained with PIE because it didn't have the Java support - it worked fine in NetFront (though it uses frames and I had to slide those around a bit to get at the main content!).
