Hi,

I've decided to opt for a SPV C500 over the MPx200, but I was wondering if I'm able to get one unlocked so that I can use my O2 SIM card in it??

If I am able to do this:

1. Where can I get it done?

2. Will I lose out on any of the phones features by doing this as I know they are only on the Orange network.

Thanks

Paul

(a speedy reply would be wonderful as I have a chance of getting the phone tonight!)

it costs £20 to unlock, afterwards if you enter the correctr gprs settings etc everything will still work!

Zim - I recently bought a C500 and unlocked it (although for £30, d'oh!) to use my O2 PAYG SIM card. O2 refuse to support POP3 email accounts and MSN messenger on PAYG, and so neither of these work.

Thanks simon211175

All the rest of the features on the phone work though right?

I'm on O2 Pay monthly... so would MSN Messenger work then? What do you have to have to get MSN to work?

Also... how did you get your text message/GPRS settings done?

as far as I can see everything else works just fine. MSN and POP3 I guess will work on a contract SIM, but O2 weren't too helpful when I spoke to them about this and getting the internet settings (they actually said I should contact Orange to get the settings for O2 internet access !!!).

I got the settings from the Phone settings repository thread here, although I had to play about a bit to get them right - I think the contract settings though are different to PAYG.

I use http://www.agilemobile.com so it connects via GPRS. And it supports MSN messenger, ICQ and other services. Very good product. And it's freeware!

i tried that but it refused to connect

Ensure you got O2 to enable GPRS on your SIM card. As far as I know, it's disabled by default.
