Guest trental Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Damn, I have searched through the forums, and am surprised that I can't find a clear thread listing a Remote Control Display program that will run on the Audiovox 5600 Smartphone. I have unlocked my phone, and verified that with checklock.exe, but still cannot load remotedsp.exe. It tells me it's not intended for this devise. I think I now understand that this is intended for WM2003 "Phone Edition", not "Smartphone". All I want to do is use my MSN Messenger, or Agile Messenger from my PC. Something so simple, that should've been included with the Activesync software. Anyone able to help me out?
Guest Pondrew Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Strange. I've used remotedsp for E200, C500 and my MDA III. You sure you downloaded the right file and installed it right?

Both are giving me the error that it isn't intended for this device, and then ends the installation. Is the C500 and my 5600 the same phone? Thanks for giving me some hope. At least someone can use it. I'll try downloading it again.
Guest trental Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Ok, I think I may have found an alternative in the Microsoft Powertoys package. I'll post my results.

The problem now is that I can't be connected with Activesync via USB, and be connected to the internet on the phone at the same time. Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to be connected to the internet and activesync at the sametime??

I found that in Activesync when I set pass-through to "internet" it won't work. When I set it to "work" it works :D It does however lock up my phone occasionally, I hope someone comes with a mature version of this software at some time. Guest sikittle Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Hi, can you give me details of exactly what RemoteDSP package your running on a C500? I've tried the one from Microsoft that's listed under the Pocket PC page, and I get the same error message as you - "Not intended for this device." Thanks! - simon I can use remote display and internet (Messenger) at the same time. I found that in Activesync when I set pass-through to "internet" it won't work. Guest argh Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Try this: http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very nice - I'm running the trial version of the Enterprise version at the moment. Do you know if there is there any way of getting it to do the nice standalone skinned window (not in the main window) like the Professional version? Also, if you're running this and have a C500 (or maybe any Win2003 SE smartphone?) with standard key sounds, I don't suppose you could export your registry key from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds and post it could you? Most of my default dtmf keysounds have been lost and my request in the Customisation forum has gone unheard ;)
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 @argh I dont think you can run the Enterprise just like the standalone skinned window of the Pro version. Registry export is possible with RESCO File Explorer (with registry add-in). Attached is my Sounds registry entry. Download, unzip then install RESCO. Make sure you have checked 'Associate REG files...' under Menu > Options > Add-In options of RESCO. Transfer the REG file to your phone, browse for the file location of the reg file using your File Explorer, click on the reg file to 'merge' it to your phone's registry. You can also manually re-configure you Sounds registry by opening the REG file on your PC using notepad, look for the dtmf entries then manually configure your phone's registry values. For the RESCO version, try this site: http://www.smartphone2000.com/Sounds.zip

Go to Downloads, then Mobile Devices, then click on View More Downloads and you want #20... "Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys". Or you can just do a search for "Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys". The Remote Display is now included in that package. That is what I downloaded and it is working pretty clean. Just remember that it uses keyboard commands. Your mouse will not work to control the phone.
Guest sikittle Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Hey Thanks, can you tell me what version that is in the Power Toys? I ask because I've got an old iPAQ lying about, so I just used the one I downloaded, installed it to their and then just copied the .EXE from the iPAQ to the SPV. It works, fairly basic cos the CeDrsp window that pops up on Smartphone is off screen, guess there's not much can be done about that. My version is 2.0.3. Do you know what the key board commands are? I can use the up and down, can't figure out what it is to laucnh the Start menu though. Many thanks - Simon You need to download Microsoft Powertoys from the downloads page on Microsoft.com. Guest argh Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Thanks pzee - looks like Resco Registry Editor and Pocket Controller Enterprise both use the same registry export format, so it can be imported from either. My keysounds are fixed!
