Guest RiCoCheT Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I love my SPV C500, one thing that dissapoints me is the Alarm clock. Majority of mobiles ive had, you can set an alarm that will go off despite the phone being switched off. Ive been looking around a few smartphone sites, came across this app - CityTime Alarms for Smartphone 1.1.0 from City Alarms Application Description The perfect topping for your smartphone! An alarm clock and simple world time piece. Attractive and practical. Unlimited number of Alarms, Count Down Timers and Stop Watch Timers Plays any WAV file as a sound Timezone fixed alarms Recurring Alarms -- Weekdays, Weekends, Daily, Semi-Weekly, Monthly and Annually Selectable world time view with a database of over 500 cities Five attractive themes (four variations on LCD and one LED), more coming. Includes several fun alarm sounds! Selectable Snooze times when alarm sounds Not required to be running for alarms to sound. Supports all models of smartphone (2002, 2003, 2003SE) QVGA support It does state requirements –“Requirements: Software Unlocked Microsoft Smartphone. 330KB of available memory or memory card.” However I was able to install this without any problems. the only thing it doesnt switch the phone on when off and sound the alarm. Has anyone installed this and not had a problem? Was your phone locked? Is there any other app/tweak that anyone knows of, of how to get an alarm to sound when the phone is off.. helpppp, im getting late for work every day...
Guest Phil Lee Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 At a guess they mean that the app doesn't have to be running for the alarm to sound.
Guest Drewtech Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I use the application both as my alarm clock and for various timers, including as a stopwatch (but only accurate to the second). I had no problems installing and my phone is as it arrived from Orange. The phone has to be switched on otherwise the operating system isn't running and neither is the alarm program. It will run and sound the alarm even when the application has been specifically started but not with the phone switched off. I don't see how any Smartphone can sound an alarm when the phone is actually powered off. It would be like your PC being able to when powered off and it can't. If you don't want the phone to ring then do what I do and put it in flight mode.
