hi there heres the thing i've jus recently bought a cheap phone for my young boy to keep in contact, he's jus been hospitalised for about a month, i originally bought this phone (original spv) without knowing anything about it, i've recently been told it can play movies so i purchased a 1gb sdcard and some software off ebay of all places. now heres the problem the software cd contains movie clips that can be played onthe spv but as of yet i've been unable to get them to work. any help greatly appreciated!

I'm afraid we're going to need a little more information before we can give a definitive answer. As it comes out of the box, the phone only contains Windows Media Player with which to show movies. This is not ideal as it only plays WMV files and cannot play full screen (on the original SPV's Smartphone 2002 system).

The phone can play MPEG, AVI (DivX) and lots of other file types, but you need to install a third party video player first - nearly everyone swears by BetaPlayer. It can be found on at

www.betaplayer.corecodec.org

Seeing as version 0.5 can do everything Windows Media Player can do but better (for example viewing full screen and fast forwarding and rewinding) I use this in preference to Windows Media Player anyway! It's also free and very, very good.

Once we've got the right software, then it's just a case of getting the films onto the phone. If they're in the right size, just put them onto the card using a card reader or Activesync and then open Betaplayer and play them!

If they're not in the right size, or if you don't know what Activesyncing means, or have ANY questions, just add a reply onto this thread and we'll see what we can do.

Good luck, and trust me - your boy will love you for getting this if he finds half the stuff I found on mine!
