Guest En_croute Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Well, it was bound to happen 1 week in, andwhile getting out of the car, I drop my upnrotected MDA onto the road. The Bad News: 4 x Nasty dents where it landed :( The Good News: It works fine. I'm now using the stupid looking pouch, and in fact I'm quite impressed - the magnetic clip makes it usable and it's nicely nidden under my waistcost at work, jumper/jacket at play - so I don't look like a prat (IMHO).
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Go to http://www.htceurope.com and either call them or email them about having your case replaced. I have got both a BlueAngel and a Magician, and I recently tried to sugarcube my BlueAngel, but it scratched the frame around the screen and I was most upset about it. I left a message on their answering machine. A day later I had arranged a repair for my phone and had it sent off to them. The total cost to me for the repair and courier shipping back to me was £31. Not bad to have the frame around the screen replaced. The entire case might be more expensive, but if you're anything like me, having a blemished device will drive you nuts. Go on...have it fixed...you know you want to. So you have to live without your Magician a few days. It will be worth it not have the dents.
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Wow ! To get those sort of dents in the case and not break something internally is impressive and somewhat reassuring. FWIW I reckon dents are cool in a 'scarface' kind of way  I use the silicon jacket and it's tempting to think I could bounce it off a hard surface and catch it on the rebound. I've never tried this out but now I believe the Jam won't come to much harm if I do. :(
Guest En_croute Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Gave them a call - the logging system is down - yes it's £32.46 (££20, postage & VAT) and back in about 3-4 days. Just need to unlock my Orange 6600 and I can send it off for repair. They were pleased & suprised it survived the fall - if the screen goes it's VERY expensive! Asked about the cradle and spare battery (cNet Reviews listed these as standard) - he thought there were no HTC cradles, but other companies were starting to make then - so hopefully in time...... Thanks a million for the HTC Europe link.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Should have seen the scars on my old e100!. I've been using my mda compact case since i got it, dont want to kill the screen! First time i've ever used one.
Guest MitchellO Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I assume you mean Casio e100. That was one solid PDA (with weight and size to match!). I just bought a javoedge case for my xda mini and am sending it back. it is way to thick, and the SD slots hold the extra SD cards (esp. my wifi sd) against the screen. not good.
