Guest m80arm Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Hi All, I see a lot of people moving from C500 to Jam - What's the best way to back everything up (Mainly contacts) I can move everything off the MINI SD fine. At the moment I dont back up my contact - I only Sync my calander with my works laptop so I know what I'm doing day to day - but I dont want to overwrite my exisiting contact or transfere my laptop contacts to my mobile. How can I backup my numbers so I can transfere then easily onto my JAM? Thanks One very excited soon to be JAM owner
Guest m80arm Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Do you not loose all the aditional information i.e. 1 name has numerous contact information such as mobile, work, home, E-mail blah blah blah
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Move all your current contacts to a sub folder of your contacts folder. IIRC Activesync only syncs the root contacts folder...
Guest iainmann Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I think this is a way of saving your C500 phone contacts to Outlook and then sync it with your new Jam. In Outlook 2002 or above create a contacts sub-folder for your phone. Download this Microsoft Outlook add-on, Pocket Contact Synchroniser from Microsoft Activate the Add-on in your phone sub-folder and sync with your C500 using ActiveSync. One drawback is it does create your Phone sub-folder details in your main Outlook Contacts folder, but for easy syncing I find that OK. Then when you get your shiny new Jam ( is the envy showing through :?: ), just repeat the sync...and your phone contacts from the C500 should be on your Jam. The Add-on certainly works with C500s, because that's what I use. And I see no reason it won't work with a jam. Hope that helps.
Guest En_croute Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) 1. In Outlook, copy your contacts to a new contacts directory. (CTRL-Drag) 2. Delete your contacts in the main Outlok contacts folder 3. Sync with the C500 4. Move your C500 contacts to a third folder 5. Move the original contacts back to the main contacts folder. 6. Repeat in reverse with the JAM Done - no downloads ! Edited February 23, 2005 by En_croute
