Guest Uisdean Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 (edited) wow... I'd liked the look of them in the pictures, but they just don't do it justice. Man is this thing compact, it's like a shetland pony (your average PPC being some form of cart-horse) I love it already and all I've done is charge the battery! ... now all I've got to do is learn how to use it... if you're dallying about buying one, stop the dally! order in now! Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Yep it certainly is! When i go back to my m2000 though i realise how nice the big screen is on it!
Guest Uisdean Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Right... got it all up and running now. Though I can't seem to the sound to go off completely - when I press the red phone if I'm on the today screen, I get a little bong. I've got volume on 0, everything on silent, disabled sounds for applicaitons and reminders and it's still there... bong. I little thing, I know, but when I put someting on silent, I want it to be just that... no bongs! Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?
Guest MitchellO Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 To get no sound, I click the Speaker icon in the taskbar and select either off or vibrate. I normally select vibrate because then when i get a msg, call or email it lets me know without telling everybody else.
Guest GothTeddy Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) You've missed the point, Mitchell, it always makes that little 'bong' regardless  Edited February 23, 2005 by GothTeddy
Guest MitchellO Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I found all of the system sounds (menu, clicks, and pops) very annoying and unnecessary, so i disabled them. Go the settings, Sounds and notifications, and take a tick out of the box that says Events. that should stop the sound. With that tick out, I get no system sounds other than phone/reminders/other progs. It simply stops the extra sounds.
Guest GothTeddy Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Once again, you missed the point  With evenything unticked, and the volume set to off, that it the one sound that remains. What heppens when you press the 'end call' button when on the today screen? If it's silent, it's probably down to the network rom (noticing that you have an O2), my T-Mobile still makes the noise.
Guest MitchellO Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Must be. I have never heard any sound when ending a call or pressing the end call button.
Guest Uisdean Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Yup, it makes a bong even with everything supposedly on silent. That said, if it's something to do with the network ROM, it might be possible to track down the sound file, delete it and replace it with one of the same name that just silent.
Guest p_dog Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 This was really annoying me too, but I found the solution through chance. If you tap on the network strength symbol at the top of the screen and then select settings you can set buttons to off, and this stops the 'bong'. No idea why it would be hidden in there but apparently it is! Hope that helps
Guest MitchellO Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I get what you mean now. My Mini does this too. I have a button for today screen so it never bothered me. Glad you got if fixed though.
Guest monty1 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I had a few problems a couple of weeks ago when I lost the phone stack and had to hard reset ( happened twice ) I thought it it was a software conflict but at the time I was using the red button to wake the machine up ( rather than the power button ) , I stopped using the red button and have not had any problems since ;) Bit weird though!
