Guest rpenhale Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Hi All, I'm off to the States on Saturday and have a few questions regarding using an SPV over there. Any Help would be appreciated. Will the SPV charger work in the States? And will other chargers such as Camcorder and Digi Cam Chargers also work. They all mention 110V & 50hz but will they transform this themselves? Will a plug adaptor do or do I need a voltage convertor? Do I need to contact Orange (and Vodafone for my girlfriend)to allow me to make calls in the States? Will I be able to call my girlfriends triband Ericsson T68i on Vodafone? Will I just have to dial the normal number when ringing the vodafone or will I have to introduce a prefix or something? Will the cost bankrupt me?!!!!!!! Sorry to ask so many questions. Thanks Alot.
Guest j_sincla Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 1. The charger is dual voltage, just need an adapter 2. You need roaming enabled on the account 3. Yes as long as you dial +447831 etc (+ is holding down the zero key) 4. Cost will bankrupt you - it's about outgoing £1.20 a minute, incoming 60p. Charged by the minute
Guest rpenhale Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Hi j_sincla Thanks Very much for answering my questions.
Guest smartytron Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 on the t-mobile network. i also made calls using it when in london, and it was $1 a minute! charged to my t-mobile account, so watch out - it adds up quick! you can buy converters (physical-only adapters and/or electrical current adapters) for quite cheap (a few dollars) at 'RadioShacks' which are electronics stores and they are all over the States. also dont forget, u might have to change BANDS, to pcs from gsm/dcs or vice versa, depending on who your carrier has an agreement with here. good luck, m
