Guest chinoxl Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I removed pvplayer because I never use it and to free up memory but it's still there in the list of the start menu, also it's still there in programs too, why and how can I get rid of it? Plus help doesnt work in the start menu. Also, can I change the way that icons are displayed, as in the programs list for example instead of being large icons and having to scroll down and down to get to the bottom just have it display them as smaller icons or as a list (like you can do on the Sony Ericsson P910i). as a side note, I've NOT put any software of any sort of there of messed about with the device, it is as it came so I did not expect to have these problems trying to carry out simple tasks. Thanks Ben
Guest fraser Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 You can manually clean it out using the File Explorer. The Programs menu lives in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs, where you can delete the shortcut to it. It's a small bug in the installer; it should remove these. Probably no one has tried it that would have noticed it in QA! The other shortcut to it pinned in the Start Menu is in the parent directory of the first one I mentioned. These files take up hardly any space, but you want to get rid of them. Has anyone used pvplayer? What's it for?
Guest chinoxl Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I tried using the file explorer but there is nothing you can do to the file, there is no delete!! Should I sync it to my pc and try it that way? but I don't want to have to do that everytime I remove a program, and AGAIN please someone, how do I get help to work??? Guest fraser Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I mentioned file explorer because I knew you'd have it. I'd forgetten how poor it was! Try "Total Commander", it's a replacement, more like windows and a lot better.
Guest chinoxl Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Thanks, I'll have a look for it. I don't know if people are not answering on purpose for some reason but I just want to get help working on the start menu, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me how to repair the shortcut link to help. PLEASE!!! Guest fraser Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Just do what I said. You can't delete using the tools on the phone by the looks of it. Total Commander is free and a decent file manager is essential.
Guest BearUK Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 When I want to delete shortcuts, files, dead folders from uninstalled programs, I pop the device in the cradle, then navigate on the PC though the 'mobile device' in Windows Explorer to the mobile's windows start menu or program files folder or whatever, and zap it that way.
Guest chinoxl Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Ok, I've done that and its gone now. Is there any way to repair shortcuts in the start menu that don't work, first help didn't work, now today doesnt work.
