Guest Uisdean Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Utter PPC beginner, was about to load Betaplayer onto my Jam, then of course realised I had the smartphone version. Went to download a version for PPC and... erm... I don't know which one I want. :?: With my SPV, it's always been easy, it's usually got the word smartphone somewhere in the title! Now, however, I don't know what I'm looking for  ... so is it the betaplayer.arm.cabs? or the betaplayer.mips.cabs... or perhaps the betaplayer.sh3.cabs? I realise I could try them all, but I dislike loading software just to delete it, I never know whether it's left something behind... a little reg entry here, a text file there... then before you know it, you phone/PDA/laptop is short of memory and you homepage has been hijacked by the 'mysearch' toolbar. ... hmmm... perhaps I'd better shut up now.. starting to sound a bit obsessive/compulsive.
Guest MitchellO Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 It is the one that has "arm" in it. StrongARM is a processor that has now been updated to the XScale. Install that version and it will be smooth sailing! Also, the mips and sh3 will not install on your JAM (or XDA Mini, MDA Compact) because they are for a different processor. Like installing Mac software on windows. It wont work.
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Being the technical expert I am, I tried them all until one worked properly! ("Process of elimination Watson....") Talking of Spyware, I was having MASSIVE problems with VX2, absolutely NOTHING would shift it. Found the Beta version of Microsofts spyware killer on the security centre site and now my login only takes a few seconds, not thirty or forty. Aha! Eat this, Spyware scum!!!! Good old Bill Gates, not just there for the nasty things in life!
