Guest One Ton Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I know this will probably make a few people mad, but I did read other topics, however I couldn't fully understand the process. I want to assign my contacts custom ringtones. I have already edited parts of songs I want and all that good stuff. From what I have read, it seems like a really difficult process. If someone could walk me through it step by step, without making it too difficult it would be greatly appreciated. By the way I tried downloading a registry editor, but didn't have much luck in that department either. Thanks for the help in advance.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Welcome to the site  To use custom ringtones for contacts just explore the phone with Activsync and place the ringtones in the following location, IPSM\Application data\Sounds
Guest One Ton Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) This is also gonna sound dumb, but I can't find IPSM? Don't laugh at me too hard. Edited February 23, 2005 by One Ton
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 If you do not have an IPSM I pesume you are running 2003 OS on your phone. If so IPSM is now called Storage.
Guest One Ton Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Hmm..that's not working. It is saying I don't have enough memory on my phone? And it seems the ones that do save, it won't let me assign them to anyone. I'm frustrated with the whole process. I was reading in other topics, that you had to use a registry editor for something. I tried downloading phm or something like that, but it didn't install on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.
Guest hecatae Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I thought it was just a case of putting them in a folder called My Documents on the memory card. :?: thats what I do anyway
Guest One Ton Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I finally got the registry editor installed, edited the ring value or whatever. However, when I try to assign a ringtone to a contact it says, this ringtone is not working properly you may want to choose another one. What's the next step? Once again thanks for any help in advance.
Guest lukeap69 Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 please check your ringtone attributes. if you're using wav, try 22.050 kHz 8 bit or 11.025 kHz 16 bit.

Guest One Ton Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Thanks, they are currently in wma format. I will try converting them and will report back. I appreciate all the help.
Guest One Ton Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Okay..I think I'm making progress. I have all of the ringtones on the phone, and it lets me assign them. However, when a contact calls it still plays the default ringtone and not the one I assigned? Any other tips or help? Thanks in advance.
