Guest FragMeister Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 On page 71 of the manual that came with my mda compact, it explains how to use the voicedial feature. Start > Programs > Voice Apps > Voice Dial. I have no such item within my Programs list. Is this something which i need to install before being able to use it, or were ukphoneshop selling phones with an earlier software version?? Any ideas?? I also dont seem to have the GPRS today screen option (page 127 of manual) either!
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Yes. Both of the apps you mention are on the applications CD you received with your Magician. You need to run the install file on the CD. There are a few other apps for viewing powerpoint and I forget what the other one is.
Guest psneddon Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 They are on the application CD that should have came with your device. There should be 2 CD's, one with outlook and one T-Mobile branded with VoieDial, GPRS monitor, truefax, and westek viewers all installable via a single installation program. Paul
Guest FragMeister Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) Many Thanks; I always wondered what that CD was for! Edited February 23, 2005 by FragMeister
Guest GothTeddy Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 And there I was thinking that they'd included a free coaster! Nice to know there's something useful on there.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Its a nice app, except it doesn't seem to be massively accurate. No matter how much i try to get it to call Jo, it insists on calling Jon!
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I installed that Cd but there is nothing in the folder for Fonix voice dials. Am I just being stupid? Also, there is a program called Spb GPRS Monitor that just says trial period expired. Whats that all about? Should I just remove it? What trial period? Eh?

Guest FragMeister Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I installed that Cd but there is nothing in the folder for Fonix voice dials. When you run the install program on the CD from your PC (while synching) you then need to select the middle option (modify) and it then comes up asking how if you want to install various things in turn. Bit confusing, as there is no "install" option within the setup program!
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Well that's all obvious for the PPC newbie 'aint it! Thank-you chaps, it all makes sense now, including having a battery meter for the home screen! About bloody time too! Thank God for these forums or I'd barely be able to use the blessed thing!!! (Now then... how to actually write texts on it...!)

Just been testing the voicedial on my MDA III and its having no trouble distinguishing between Joes and Johns...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Nope just the first name, thats all i have programed in! Might try putting the surnames in...
