Guest mallen Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I, like many others I guess, suffer from a rubbish signal in the office at work. I have recently got my hands on an external glass mount antenna, with cables. Does anyone know if it's possible to connect this directly to the back of the SPV? I sit quite close to a window so I was thinking I could mount this outside, cable back to my desk, and connect directly to the back of my phone. Has anyone managed to achieve anything similar? Unfortunately my C500 is in for repair at HTC again. Dust behind the screen - AGAIN! Due to this I can't check what sort of connector is on the back of the phone. Does anyone know whether I can connect an FME female directly to the phone, or what adaptor, if any, I would require? Thanks Folks

Thanks Folks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi The SPV-M1000 has the same connector, so you need one of these Antenna Adaptor for SPV/XDA2/M1000 £ 9.99 Delivered Connects to the antenna socket on the rear of the phone and terminates in an FME socket for connection to an external aerial. from http://www.freedom-mobiles.co.uk/orange-sp...ccessories.html Cheers JustinP
Guest moosery Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 does it go in the little hole in the back (above, right of camera) that has the rubber plug over it? are they any good??
Guest mallen Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 (edited) does it go in the little hole in the back (above, right of camera) that has the rubber plug over it? are they any good?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, remove the rubber plug and there should be a socket there. I think that's how it connects in car kits, etc. I'm just about to order one of the cables JustinP mentioned. I'll post results of testing once I get the kit set up. I'm hoping results will be quite obvious. Currently I get between NO SIGNAL and 1 BAR all day, but mostly no signal. Michael Forgot to mention, might take me a while to post results as my C500 is in for repair at HTC (Dust, again). Edited February 24, 2005 by mallen
Guest mallen Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 How did this end up working out? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unfortunately I didn't get round to doing it as I sold the phone soon after I asked? Apologies, though I'm sure someone else must have tried this. Luckily my new phone seems to have slightly better reception.
