Guest Kestin M Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 As a Newbie in the Smartphone world, I have a few questions. I have tried looking for a few programs, but can;t seem to find them on my own. I own an Audiovox SMT5600 (I think for European users it is sold as the Orange SPV C500). I have figured out custom ringtones, I have downloaded a few themes (The Steelers Theme from this site is spectacular), and have added a few cool games. My first question is: How do I go about managing my Start Menu? I would like to be able to move the things that I use most onto the first page, not the third or fourth and I would like to create a few folders instead of having about 35 or 40 start menu items. Everything I have found a description for involves me changing the registry and I am not comfortable with that at this point. I would prefer something that has the ability to work from my PC over ActiveSync and WYSIWIG would be great, but neither of those is a deal-breaker for me. Second, is there a way to build shortcuts into your homepage (or I guess macros would be a better word). I would like to be able to get to my alarm clock and a few other programs with a few keystrokes instead of having to go through the menu system. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Kestin
Guest xenophobe Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 First you'll need to application unlock your phone. After you've done that, you can manage your start menu from Explorer using ActiveSync. Go to Storage\Windows\Start Menu and create any folders you want and move your shortcuts there. As for arraigning the items in your startmenu, I haven't had luck using the Favorites Manager. I just have my start menu as one page (with Messaging, Contacts and Call History) with all the other items nestled in sub folders (Accessories, Applications, Game Room, Imaging, Resource Mgmt.). A lot of C500/SMT 5600 questions have already been answered in the device specific forum here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showforum=61 Try a few searches or look through a few pages of posts... a lot of info there.
Guest Kestin M Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) Thanks for the help. I didn't realize there was a device specific forum. I have been able to move a bunch of stuff, but everything that is in my start menu is not shown on the explorer screen. Does this mean that my phone is not unlocked completely? I am able to install unsigned programs, but I noticed in the other forum that you said there were two levels of unlocking. Thanks again. Nevermind. I think I found the answers after some searching (I was searching for the wrong thing). Kestin Edited February 23, 2005 by Kestin M
Guest xenophobe Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Sometimes changes to your start menu won't show until you restart your phone....
