Guest specialized Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 (edited) The Typhoon Cradle is a sleek free-standing cradle that will update your information in style. It’s quick and easy to connect to your desktop PC to transfer files, synchronize your schedule and to charge your battery. Get the perfect complement to your smartphone today. Price: $18USD (£9.40) http://www.typhooncradle.com -------------- I just wanted to show you guys my C500/SMT5600 cradle that I made. It's a free-standing style cradle. It stands on a slight angle with footings or completely vertical without. It holds the phone firm, works great and I've been using it for about 3 months now. It took awhile to come up with the idea, fabricate the parts and to put everything together but it was definitely worth it! It’s made from plastic and molded rubber. Large Images: Large Cradle Image 1 (Front) Large Cradle Image 2 (Side) EDIT (02/25/05): It's nice to see some interest, I didn't expect to possibly start selling the cradle but I would like to see enough demand for it before I start producing the cradle. At the very least 10 people who wants to order it I suppose. As for price, I think $18 USD + Shipping is a fair and good price. Sounds good? I should be able to make and ship the cradles within 2 business days. PM me if you're interested. Thanks! The following is a list of confirmed interested buyers, once it reaches 10 buyers I'll set up a paypal shop where you can order your cradle: 1. mobile-distortion 2. bobblah 3. bnoodle 4. Herald 5. cruro02 6. spaceace 7. spaceace 8. stunno 9. robertperalta 10. aphexii EDIT (03/04/05): The list reached 10 people! I'll be setting up a paypal store shortly. Thank you everyone for your support! EDIT (03/05/05): The cradle is now available for purchase at: http://www.digimission.com/?page_id=17 I'm also able to offer the cradle with a grey USB cable instead of the standard black for $14.40 USD which is 20% off! I found grey USB mini cables at a lower cost and I'm passing on the savings to you. The quantities of the grey cable model is very limited. If you have any questions please email me at: [email protected] Thanks! EDIT (03/24/05): The special grey USB cable model is now sold out. Black USB cable model is still available. EDIT (04/27/05): I've received a number of requests for faster shipping with tracking and I'm now able to offer Expedited Shipping with Tracking for North American locations. I haven't found an affordable express shipping option for international locations yet. EDIT (05/19/05): I'm able to offer 50% off Regular Shipping till the end of May. For a limited time only, offer expires May 31, 2005. North America shipping now only $3 USD (Reg. $6) and International shipping now only $4 USD (Reg. $8). EDIT (08/03/05): I'm able to offer 50% off regular shipping again, offer expires Sept 30, 2005. Edited November 6, 2005 by specialized
Guest Drewtech Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 That's a damn sight better than the clear wavy plastic effort that was shown in a thread a couple of weeks ago. Looks like you have done a good job there. There could be a serious market for it.
Guest spyda Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 how much? availability? HowsYourMammaNem  ? -icky
Guest specialized Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I never really thought about selling the cradle but if there is demand for it I'll do it. If you're interested just post something to let me know. In terms of price, if I do sell it, don't worry I won't make it expensive.
Guest bobblah Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I'd like to have one of those, how long, and how much will it be? Shipping will be to zip code 72116, in the states
Guest mobile-distortion Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I would be VERY interested in one too. Just as long as the pricew was reasonable. Also, could you post a brighter, more detailed pic? Great job on it from what I can see...looks sleek and very professional.

Guest xenophobe Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I'm going to look into having some nice wood cradles made that are fitted to the C500/SMT 5600. I'll find out about it today and post some info. I'm expecting if I get these made, they'll be around $39 and be made of figured English Clarrow Walnut.
Guest Herald Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 im also interested in one of these cradles!

Guest sainthalo Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 hi there, quite a snazzy little design there, i know you might be selling some of these but is there any chance you could answer a few questions about how you constructed it? I am planning to build one myself having seen your pictures! It looks like if i can find some nice rubber tube like yours and put a nice cap on it then all i need to do is thread in my mini usb plug into the tube at the side and then up into the cap. as long as it is a tight fit this should keep the phone secure when plugged in. Is it that simple or did you have some problems when connecting disconnecting the phone from the mini-usb? thanks if you're able to answer, PM if you want to keep the design private.
Guest bnoodle Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Count me in as interested - if you posted around to various smartphone sites I'll bet you'd garner a bunch more interest, particularly if you get them to make announcements on the home page.

There aren't any problems disconnecting the mini usb from the phone.
