How can I delete all Calendar entries from C500?

I want to overwrite the Calendar items on my phone (c500) with those on my PC Outlook.

Back in my Palm days this was easy as Hotsync had an option. Activesync doesn't seem to. So...

How can I delete all the Calendar entries on my phone, such that my next ActiveSync will not delete them from Outlook, but rather put all the Outlook items into my (newly empty) phone?

Many thanks for any help,

Dave.

Do not understand question.

Activesync will sync all the calender entries that are found in Outlook on the PC. So that both devices, PC and C500, will have the same calender entries. If you are syncing for the first time, then you will have a choice of copying all the information from your PC to your device or to "combine" all the information from the two devices so that the ionformation is the same on both devices.

Sorry, I should have been clearer.

Through other problems trying to sync phone with 2 different PCs, I'm now in a position where:

- my work PC Outlook has all the correct info I want

- my phone has a similar set of data but with a load of deletes/modifications/additions applied, none of which I want

- if I connect phone to work PC now, and allow ActiveSync to do it's thing, it will apply the load of bad changes from phone to PC: I don't want this...

- I want the phone calendar app wiped clean, and all the data on PC to remain unchanged, and be copied into my phone

- I'll the revert back to standard 2-way sync between them

Thanks for any help,

Dave.

The rules tab in Actvie Sync Tools>Options menu on your office PC should be able to sort this out. You can set the rules that govern what happens if there are conflicts. The options are:

1. Leave the item unresolved

2. Always replace the item on my device

3. Always releace the item on this computer

I've used option 3 successfully cos I invariably edit stuff on my phone and normally just use Outlook as a easy backup etc unless deliberately adding stuff in an Outlook session.

Thanks fatman. I might have to try this method. The reason I'd prefer to wipe the phone is that a lot of the bad data on it may be duplicates, rather conflicts (and it is threatening to sync 300+ 'changes'!)

I wonder if there's a calendar data file on phone which I can zap?

Found a way to do it, sort of at least

Since my work PC has all the data I want, across all the apps I sync (Calendar, Tasks, Contacts), I just deleted my partership on the work PC, and reconnected my phone.

SetupActiveSync preferences back to how I like them (e.g. all Tasks) and then when sync started it gives me this dialog...

...which is just what I wanted :(

Only downside is it breaks all links from Photos to Contacts, but short job putting them back, can't have everything.

ActiveStnc would be much improved if it gave you the option of invoking and using the dialog as you wish, for any/all apps, rather than only on fist sync of new partnership, but at least that's my current problem solved.

...Removes duplicate entries etc

Thanks Stu. Thing is, I'm not keen to create duplicates in the first place at work, as the Calendar is used a lot by everyone and sends emails flying around the place when things change. Like if a sync deleted all my work Calendar, it'd probably send 2000 emails to people saying I'm not longer coming to meetigns which were a year ago :?: Not keen on delete then restore backup type actions either for same reason.

Duplicate creation then removal might not harm, but in general I like to keep my work calendar as the master and reasonably un messed with.

One more point on the above partnership delete/create route out of my problem, in case anyone is having similar... have to delete all data on home PC and then use the "Combine..." option, because Active Sync does not have a "phone overwrites PC" option.

Is there a viable alternative to ActiveSync out there at all??

i had a similar thing with my contacts. here's what i did:

1. in outlook, create a new backup folder and stick all your outlook contacts in there

2. empty the original folder - this should wipe the phone's contacts too but you can then wipe them too if you need

3. replace the original outlook contacts folder from the backup folder

perhaps this will also work with calendar? i see an option called "copy calendar" but haven't tried it...

this is my first post so i may be missing something obvious here so stay with me. My C 500 phone wouldn't sync properly (happy to do diary and tasks but kept dropping the connection when doing contacts) and I ended up with 8 or 9 copies of some of my contacts on both my PC and my phone. It's easy to get rid of the PC duplicates so i did a factory reset on the phone, deleted the partnership, rebooted phone and PC and started again with an empty phone. They both now sync all three things properly, no duplicates, and all i've had to do is put my own profile stuff back on to the phone - home screen etc, whch takes almost no time.

Hi dotty, yep this is one way to do it, but wait until you've installed and load of extra software and customised your phone a bit more -factory resets get less appealing the longer you've had the phone :D

Cheers,

Dave.
