Memory and Installing apps

Recommended Posts

Sorry for all the Q's - But someone's got to ask them.

I am new to PPC so not too clue'd up about the memory.

I have just purcahsed 1 gig SD card but how to do you installs apps on the PPC SD card?? and cab files?

Currently my memory settings are:

Storage 8.21 free

Programs 9.49 free

Is this is or should I remove some apps and install them on the SD card?

Thanks

Michael

Most people I am sure would agree with me that it is better to install as much as possible to the memory card. I only install "essential" applications to main memory, stuff like Microsoft Voice Command, and everything else to the storage card. More internal memory you have free the better, as your Jam will be able to handle more apps open at once and will be quicker and generally more stable in its operation.

I have a SDIO WiFi card, so install any app that I do not want to use when I'm attached at work, or surfing at home (as my wife hogs the laptop...)

To answer your install question, when you run the install from the PC, ActiveSync asks if you want to install in default memory. Click no, select Storage card, and off you go.

MMmm - I installed Microsoft pocket viewer onto the SD card but when I got start it it fails - but saying tha resco installed on it fine

Also think I'm gonna have to move some ring tones across - there taking about 10 meg - Hopefully there should'nt be any problems with it running from the SD card

I was wondering about this. I want to have and WiFi card and an extra storage card also. I guess it makes sense to keep all your apps that *need* to access the internet in main memory, and anything else on the SD card. One day they will make an SD wifi card with 1GB 8-)
