Sound issue...it's all gone quiet

I've noticed something with my phone today. In fact I suspect it's been there for at least the week, just been too busy to notice.

The volume has-gone-way-down.

Alot. Let me put it this way, if I put in my hands-free kit and max the volume, it's louder than the speaker is.

All the volume settings are maxed out but to no avail. Please help! I haven't installed any new/dodgy software, but i vaguely recall dropping the phone though it seemed fine, it's only about a month old!

Any ideas...? I keep missing calls cos I can't hear the damn thing ring! The sound isn't distorted in anyway, just not very loud!

Gonna have to phone Orange unless any of you can help!

My C500 does this every few but its fixed easily by turning the phone off and on...

I've also missed lots of calls and messages by not hearing my phone so now I turn it off and on every day... Even more annoying I've missed a couple of wake up alarms as I also use my phone for that too!

Its really annoying having to remember to turn it off daily but I can't find any other way around it :lol:

I've tried resetting my phone repeatedly already, the longer battery life compared to my e200 finds me not turning my phone off for days.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to hard reset. Which leads me to the question, aside from my documents, what else should I back up on the phone itself? Like home screens etc...

Hi,

I've flashed my SPV from the Orange C500 rom to the imate 1.5.etc and have also found the volume has gone quiet even though it is on full.

Just seemed a bit weird you know, one minute everything is nice and load and then after a rom update of essentially the same phone it all goes quiet. Anybody have any ideas what is going on?

Alright, serious help required now. I did a hard reset and used the same ROM as before, 4.1.1.4 or something like that, and it didn't work.

Okay, unlocked it, still have the sound issue. I may have to phone up orange if this isn't sorted and ask for a replacement...

Don't be meaning to highjack someone else problem but thought I'd update with some more info.

Whilst my phone was still flashed with the imate rom I was playing Jawbreaker and that still had really load sound even though my ringtone didn't.

I then reflashed the phone back to the Orange Rom 4.1.1.4.4. (or what ever it is) and now the ringtone volume is back to full.

Just seems a bit weird as I would have like to get rid of all the Orange crap off the phone but not at the expense of the ring volume :lol:

Is there any other way to get rid of the Orange stuff off the phone and set stuff up for T-Mobile?

what 'crap' do you mean? i know once you app unlocked your phone you can delete the orange folder

I missed my lecture today because the alarm on my phone was too quiet to wake me up. Although to be fair the vibration function couldn't do that either.

So, no new ideas? All I want to know at this point, is if it's a software bug that I can fix, or a hardware issue so I should return it to Orange.

I have the exact problem as you mate ! i've done a hard reset etc and still the sound is soooo quiet. volume levels set to maximun... This has just happened, worked perfect last week !

Urgh, why is it that whenever I try to record a video in anything but AVI it tells me I'm out of memory even when I'm not?

I love this phone but sometimes it really tries my patience!

I have that 'out of memory' error when using MPEG-4 encoder, Storage: Storage Card. Seems to be working fine when files are saved to Internal memory.

back to the sound problem, is there a registry setting that controls overall loudness ? i dont know? its also possible that the speakers are shot... the crazy frog may have done it !

Reg settings? Ask the rest of the forum, we need to "make some noise" as it were. And as for the speakers being shot...

The speaker on my mate's p900 is shot, and it sounds awful. Mine sounds crystal clear, just unbelievably quiet.

The sound on mine is crystal clear too mate, its just sooo quiet. I dont really want to take the phone back, but its looking like i might have to !

My volume function, the rocker on the left side of my Audiovox smt5600 no longer activates the volume, which happens to be stuck on LOW... imagine that.

Anybody have a way to get it back - happend just after I downloaded a skin from Mod... go figure.

Please help!

Aren't you lucky, I can actually tell you about that. Same thing happened to me, i brought it up but was ignored :|

I have no idea why, but some skins do not support the volume buttons or so it seems. So, I'm afraid you're just going to have to change to a skin that does, such as one of the Futurama skin or the one I use, Gant.

orange have offered to replace my phone, subject to a small admin charge.

They also want to exchange it literally on my doorstep.
