Hi Afhstingray, when I went to see my family last year I ordered one of these. It took 10 days to arrive but I put the card in my phone when I got to Italy and it came with 10 Euro's credit  the link is from the same seller I used, and I got mine on a Buy It Now as well.

I called places like VodaPhone (cos they have Voda Italy) and a few others and they wanted £80 for the same thing  even ordering 'global' sim cards from the states worked out to about £40 each.

Have a nice time over there.

i dont understand the italian words in that ebay listing, and im going to purchase the sim card in italy itself. so the cost per minute to call and send sms is what im looking for. i looked at the TIM website, but the rates seem to be very high.

It it just because the mobile rates in italy are higher, or is it because TIM's rates are not very good?

P.S does anyone know what the operators in Italy are?

Hi again, as far as I know there is Vodaphone and Wind with TIM being the Italian equal vent of 02 I.E. The national telecom's mobile division and the biggest operator in Italy.

Sorry you mentioned you did not want to pay roaming when people called you, if you want to make calls in Italy as well then I would recommend something like this its a phonecard which gives you cheap calls (bit like One.Tel but international)

Hope these help

I am am not suggesting you use this bit of advice, but anyway.

If I was in Italy on my own I would not want to have texts comming from my girlfriend, know what I mean :D

hi,

i'm living in italy at the moment and use my c500 with vodafone (italia)

i'd advise either tim network, wind network or vodafone network if you're looking to buy a sim card-the basic price is always about the same (30 euros) and you should get about 10 euros of credit included with that.

problems!:

the italians are for some reason very anal about giving out sim cards so you'll have to provide them with a document (passport) and usually something else called codice fiscale which is a bit like a national insurance number which you probably haven't got.

can you get an italian friend to help you out?

if you don't know anyone in italy, send me a private email and i'll try to help you find a way round this problem-i would say it here but am not sure about the rules of the site as regards passing round 'helpful' but NOT illegal info.
