Guest AntRn Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Some programs that I download appear not to be able to be put onto my SPV E200 Smartphone. This is because when I unzip it comes up with an XML file and if I attempt to open it it just shows the proframming and does not install in the normal manner of a cab file. Can xml files be installed onto the E200 if so how? What is the difference between .cab & .xml???? Also does anyone know if the Public Beta of MoDaCo CamerAware work on the spv E200???? Thanks AntRn
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 A cab file is a 'cabinet' full of files and the instructions to install them. An xml file is (usually) just a homescreen file. Simply copy it into \Storage \Application Data \Home along with the jpgs etc. For more information have a look at the 'First 48 Hours' thread in FAQs. Moved to Help & Advice
Guest Matt Kirby Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 This is all in the FAQ as DiscoStu said, but here you go: For CAB files you need to copy them to the phone and then run them there to install the goodies within. To do this, connect your phone to your PC via ActiveSync. In ActiveSync on the PC click on "Explore", then double click on the phone icon. Navigate to the following folder: "Storage\Windows\Start Menu" and either drag-and-drop or cut-and-paste the CAB file there. This will then be accessible from the Start menu on your phone (might need a reboot to force the phone to refresh the menu). When you select the CAB file from your Start menu, your phone will install the software and then delete the CAB file. That's it! Another way is to use my software (see my sig), once installed you can right-click on CAB files on the PC and select "Copy & Install to Smartphone". It's still in beta, but is stable as far as I can tell. plug>
