Guest newquay_kev Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Hello all, Just a quick question. How important (or noticeable) is SD card speed on the e200? Is there any noticeble difference between your average "cheap" card, or the more expensive hi-speed cards? With digital photography the need for speed is obvious, but is it really essential on a phone? I'm trying to achieve a sound balance between cost and performance, so any help would be great!! Thanks!
Guest Confused Stu Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 While I've never compared the two types of card's I will say that if you put the card into a card reader it's MILES quicker than using the card in the phone. By this completely unscientific test I'd say the limiting factor is the phone's ability to get info to the card, rather than the card's ability to received it, so a "cheap" card would probably run at the same speed in the phone as a "high speed" jobby. Probably. In my opinion. :D
Guest newquay_kev Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Stu I think you've got it about right there, its certainly what I've been thinking. Smartphones (and the e200 is no exception) aren't the quickest devices around - I would agree the limiting factor is the phone rather than the card. Anyone else got any input on this? At the moment I'm swaying towards getting a standard (i.e. not high speed) 1GB card. Kev
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 If I remember from a long time ago either jlowap or simon desser had one of the faster cards when they initially came out and it was posted that there was a slight difference in performance with access time being faster compared to a standard card. This was posted about a couple of years ago now.
