hi! Please help me, I'm tryin go to get help with my C500,

this is the problem

I downloaded an app from armadillo, and I think it was infected. After I installed it, my phone was whiped out! no programs in start menu etc. I tried to softreset, and then it wouldn't turn on at all.... :D

then I tried to hardreset, the menu comes up to press 0, then it simply loads for like 45 min, and it wont load up! I dont know what to do since I live in Canada and bought the unlocked version from ebay. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH

I've removed the battery, the sim card, I dont have a miniSD.. PLEAAAAASE HELP!!!!!!!

I really cant afford to buy another phone since they dont sell this phone here and its extremely expensive 800$ canadian.. but I really cant go back to another old nokia phone..

It should work with a hard reset. Make sure the phone is charged properly.

If it still doesn't work, try flashing a ROM update - even if it's the same version you have on the phone.

As general advice, don't ever install anything from peer-to-peer download networks. Before installing anything from any other source, look for reviews on the internet, or simply do a search here, on modaco.

what do u mean a flash rom update? Please remember since the phone doesn't load up windows, I cant sync it. I'm pretty sure the battery is okay, I mean wouldn't it load at the very least if the battery was low, now I can leave it on for a good 30 min and it wont load up.. pleaseeeee help.. I really cant afford to buy another phone and I cant go back to Nokia!

There are no viruses at the moment for your phone so it is not infected.

What was the application you were trying to install?

Try removing the battery for 30 seconds then try a Hard reset will normally fix the problem though.

The only option is to reflach the phone. You do not need Activsync to do this.

ok guys, now that you say I dont need activesync to do this, it would be amazing. Yes there is a virus for smartphone, its callab cabir or something. Basically spreads threw bluetooth and my screen starts to turn on and then it stays on the winodws blue screen with bluetooth on. If someone can please help me reflash my phone or firmware or something (I'm realy not sure) it would be great, with insurctions, perhaps a download link. thanks again everyone, please help me cuz I really cant afford to ship it to america to audiovox. Go here and download the software. Make sure that the phone battery is fully charged. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable, start the ROM update program and follow the instructions on the screen.

Cabir is a "virus" for Symbian phones, it cannot run on Windows smartphones.

You don't need to sync, just attach the phone to the PC so that the ROM update can do it's thang. Whether the update app can see the phone in it's "hung" state is the $1m question.

Before you do that, can you just confirm you've tried booting the phone with a different SIM card, and without the miniSD card in it?

If it's just a duff connection somewhere you'll be wasting your time with the ROM update.

To get to the tr-coloured screen:

Switch phone off.

Press and hold down camera button on right side of phone.

Press power button once while still keep the camera button held down

I suggest not to flash it with the Orange ROM. You mentioned in the first post that the phone is C500, that's why I suggested to download the Orange one.

SMT5600 has Windows Media Player 10, which you may want to keep.

If you enter the tri-colour screen, you don't need activesync. But (read above) don't try to flash it now, see if you can find a different solution.

pelase someone suggest anything, and remember I CANNOT sync my phone and it doesn't go past the windows loading screen. I can get to the tri color mode from the camera button on startup, but that doesn't do nothing either.. suggestions?

The ROM update contains the full operating system - it rewrites everything in your phone. The Orange ROM is quite different from the SMT5600 one. A difference is WMP10, but there are differences in the frequency bands used by the two phones. No idea to what extent this relies on the software.

yea I'm trying it now a 2nd time. I dont care about wmp10, I just want my phone! Plus I like the home screen layout from orange.

Right now since this is installing, does it my phone is 'software unlocked'?.. it is unlocked for gsm service..

does anyone know where to get the SMT 5600 ROM etc
