Guest ingrambw Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I think this phone has some potential but still has flaws as well. The thumb board is a great idea and the size does not bother me. No BT or SDIO does bother me though, and with the corporate issues around the release, I am not sure the Voq will have a second generation or an updates. Does anyone out there use this phone? Thanks, Brian
Guest Confucious Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 No! - when I asked about the VOQ all I got was a list of reasons why it is so bad as to be not worth bothering with! AFAIK no one on these forums actually uses one.
Guest philgriffiths Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I think Paul has one, or at least had one. dont think he uses it much these days tho.
Guest Pondrew Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Seems the Voq was that bad that Sierra Wireless got sued for it... There's a thread around here somewhere about it.

Guest ingrambw Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 SatanX Where did you purchase yours from, who's service are you using it on? I think the phone is a GREAT concept and out of the box I think it could not be better sense all I currently use SD for is memory and all I want BT for is a Keyboard. It is just my gut feeling that I will eventually want to use BT for other things like GPS, and WiFi from the SDIO that keeps me from jumping on the phone now. How does the keyboard feel, is it pretty solid and sturdy, do the buttons have good tactile feel to them? One final thing I wondered about was this Voqmail thing, I am mainly interested in using the standard outlook client that comes on all smartphones, so that I can use Exchange ActiveSync from the office. Is the Voqmail app in addition to the standard outlook client or in-place-of the standard outlook client? Thanks for any help! Brian

Guest Confucious Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 If you search these forums for "sierra" you will find quite a few threads on the Voq. It does not seem very popular but Satanx likes it so it obviously suits some people.
Guest ingrambw Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Well I ordered the personal edition from Mobile Planet, should have it tomorrow. I was looking over the specs on the professional edition of voqmail, which you can purchase later if you want, and it seems like most of the stuff is possible with the standard outlook client. Sync contacts, calendar, inbox with Exchange 2003 remotely. This can be done with any smartphone, as long as Exchange Activesync is set on the server, can't it? VPN connection, this too is supposed to be possible from any smartphone. So has anyone found a really good reason to utilize the professional edition of Voqmail, there may be a perfectly good reason that I am just not seeing? Thanks, Brian
