Guest stevem999 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Someone has got to know something? Surely there must be an O2 or Voda employee on here itching to tell someone what they know? I think all likely dates have been passed now. It's the only decent spec clamshell smartphone out there - there are others appearing on the horizon but could be months before they're seen. Does anyone know anything??? :?:
Guest hotphil Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 There's been a few threads discussing likely release dates. I think all have passed now. I've said it before, but you do have to wonder WHY it's not being released - what can be causing that much of a problem that it isn't getting a release? Is it technical? Contractual? Financial? If it's technical then that's something to worry about, if an issue is taking this long to fix, in my experience, it will never be completely right. I have now gone from "yes, i will get one asap" to "no not ever". Lets be honest, some previous Smartphones (particulary) the original SPV were no where near ready for the public, perhaps it is right that this may never see the (UK) light of day?
Guest stevem999 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I'm still interested in this phone, even with the apparent setbacks - it is the only clamshell smartphone out there really, I'm intending on keeping this phone for a couple of years and I want to make sure it's right! I know that so many other Windows smartphones are out there but this is the one for me I have to agree with you though that it does look increasingly like there is a problem of some sort - It surely can't be just financial so you may be right in thinking it's a tech problem, just wonder how big? There were issues in the States we all know about but they were solved with a ROM update - surely it can't take this long for Moto to reflash their stocks destined for the UK? Ho hum, wait a bit longer.... It seems so long since this phone came about, but I suppose it's only a couple of months since it was successfully launched on a widespread basis in the States so we're not too far behind...yet.
Guest hotphil Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Now this : http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000640032136/ looks pretty darn interesting. Definitely not fussed about trying to get my hands on a 220 now!

Definitely not fussed about trying to get my hands on a 220 now! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very nice phone - however highly unlikely to be Moto's next offering as detailed in the article. Moto have recently made the decision to take their smartphone manufacturing back in-house after quality issues with their phones made by Chi-mei. Unless someone like Orange picks it up and brands as their own handset I'd hazard a guess that we won't see it on UK release.
