Guest gprowse Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Hi, For some unknown reason the windows media player on my C500 has stopped playing music. When i press play it shows the track as playing, but there is no sound. The speaker is ok as the ring tones etc are all audible when someone phones or when i press buttons. Any ideas? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Gareth
Guest Chaser81 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 (edited) Can a moderator move this to Smartphone help and advice please? The poster might get better response there. To the poster: Have you checked the Media Player settings? Your volume in Media Player might be turned all the way down. Edited March 1, 2005 by Chaser81

It doiesn't work when i change the volume using the action key when the track is playing. No idea what else to do! I haven't been too impressed with the media player really, is there a better alternative? Thanks Gareth
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Moved to Smartphone section. Try Beta Player http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/
Guest stware Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Moved to Smartphone section. Try Beta Player http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Had the same issue, I installed Beta Player, and Media Player jumped back into life, I suspect my problem was downloading Home Screens and one of them must play with the sound.
Guest cyberjunk Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I have a similar problem, (sort of..) in that media player crashes every time I launch it from the start menu or home screen, but I can play tracks direct from my card using the file manager. So imagine my delight when I read your advice to install Beta Player, and they're using a C500 too! But alas..... I just tried to install Beta Player on my C500, but it told me it's not for this device? I've unlocked the phone so that shouldn't be an issue. If Beta Player won't run on a C500, do you know anything that will? I'd like a bit more control over playlists and library as I listen to music constantly. Cheers guys.
Guest Confused Stu Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I've been running Betaplayer since the first day I got my C500 - I got too attached to the program on my Classic to be without it on my newer phone! Are you sure you've downloaded the right version of the program? The download page is pretty confusing and I've downloaded a PocketPC version rather than a Smartphone version before! Make sure you're downloading Stable v0.5 and that the one selected is the Smartphone CAB file. Then just copy this file over to somewhere on the phone and run it with the phone (SmartExplorer's my favourite for this, but the phone's File Manager will be able to handle this too). If that all happens and it still comes up with an error message, give us a shout and we'll see what we can sort out. Fear not Cinderella, you WILL go to the ball! (Or at least have the coolest media player known to Smartphone-kind!) ;)
Guest cyberjunk Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Spot on, i'd got the pocket PC version!.........Doh! But yer right it's an excellent player, media player hasn't had a look in since. Is it possible to reconfigure the start menu? I don't use half the items on the first two menus, and most new apps seem to stick a shortcut on the third menu. Thanx ;)
