Guest squall Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 we are moving in that direction, but small steps! technology tends not to change more that 2 or 3 key features per generation
Guest hunyango_uk Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 (edited) => newshounds, you were saying it's possible in near future. you got the specific time bout that? can't wait to have one!!!! ](*,) do you know something? can you share it with me? please!!!!!!! Edited March 3, 2005 by hunyango_uk
Guest markgamber Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Oh, I'm sure it could be done. Probably has been. And I'm equally sure you'd choke on the price as such a phone would be very expensive for a long time because they wouldn't exactly leap off the shelves. The stuff they make now only accounts for a tiny percentage of cellphone sales. Sure, it would be nice but if you want it anytime soon, get a pda.
Guest hunyango_uk Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 (edited) Sure, it would be nice but if you want it anytime soon, get a pda. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hmmmmmm............. i did. got a nice one in my head, MDA IV/HTC Universal/spv 3g. i got nothing against ppc, love it. and i have one, the old xda. but size matter, co'z it's really handy. though, still i'm going to get my MDA IV/HTC Universal/spv 3g, it's a device that i i don't want to miss. Guest JLang Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Don't forget an SDIO slot, and a rolling suitcase to carry it in... :D I am looking forward to improvements though...
Guest mavisdavis Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 5MP Camera phone HERE 128MB Sim card HERE 500MHZ are in most PDA devices now or soon BT is pretty much standard aswell so hopeing that samsung can combine all these into a Smatphone that would rock
Guest hunyango_uk Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 (edited) hmmmmmmmmmmmm........................ how about instead of 128mb mem.......... it's a 4 gb hard disk =p~ , just like the one i've read before (think it's samsung). but the site is gone now, i think it's a new challenge for manufacturers.=D> what do you think bout that guys? imagine what you can do with it? :D/ Edited March 6, 2005 by hunyango_uk
Guest willieturnip Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 WHY MINI_SD!!!!!!!...STICK TO NORMAL SD....ITS MUCH CHEAPER AND DOES THE SAME THING!
Guest squall Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 not really much cheaper, and with the difference in size it does seem to be worth it
Guest markgamber Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Additional SDIO slot: $45 1 gb mini drive: $145 3g network module: $220 Some knowledge of micro engineering: $80000 Using the Caps Lock key: Priceless
Guest markgamber Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Markgamber - ouch! :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh...yeah, it's the old days of Windows CE all over again. Some people wonder why I don't write shareware or freeware stuff anymore. Now you know. Who needs that headache?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 WHY MINI_SD!!!!!!!...STICK TO NORMAL SD....ITS MUCH CHEAPER AND DOES THE SAME THING! miniSD also uses less power than standard SD. The shouting here was soo loud I heard it all the way from Off Topic :D
Guest hunyango_uk Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 (edited) samsung just built 3gb on their i300 smartphone, AWESOME!!! i want one!!! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) Edited March 10, 2005 by hunyango_uk
Guest Pigo Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Have a look at the Asus P505 Powered by an Intel PXA270 MHz processor running at 520 MHz 1.3 Megapixel camera (not bad though) the device only offers Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi (wait there's more) SDIO capable SD/MMC Card expansion slot (so a SD wi-fi card is possible) Not all of the asked options but a good shot for it if you ask me (plus it's pretty small Infosync - Asus P505 Pigo
Guest phonesmarts Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Better yet, 20 GB+! Make your smartphone an external HDD! @awarner: I have tons of regular SDs and I don't want to spend more for miniSDs... unless they have dual-compatibility :D
Guest badhusin Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 What about this: a 7 megapixel camera phone by Samsung!... refer to http://www.dpreview.com/news/0503/05030901...ung_schv770.asp :-"
Guest jammie*dodger Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Surely you mean a 7 megapixel camera with phone functionality. Amazing how a company are willing to produce a convergent device that's bigger than the original 2 devices were :-)
Guest Phonz Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Or we can hope windows release magneto soon and samsung proceeds ahead with the i300! The Cbit demo has an internal 3GB drive. Its a tad bigger than a c500 and screen dimensions are small considering its 320x240. I wish the new sony K750 was a smartphone... its small, great screen, cool looking and can hold 1G...
Guest lekus Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Don't forget that's it's also more profitable in the long-term for companies to add things bit by bit to their phones. That way you get people always wanting to get the next phone which includes feature x or y. I reckon that the HTC Magician could have had WiFi embedded. I don't know how much space is left inside (I don't own one), but you can get some very small, low power WiFi chips these days. If not, I'm sure they could have fitted WiFi in if they'd used a miniSD slot instead of SD. Then again, maybe they left it out to be put in the next model... ;)

Guest lekus Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 You mean like in the Orange m500? ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought it was confirmed that it didn't have WiFi, despite what the Orange Netherlands site said? http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...43entry571743
