Guest 4N1L Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 (edited) They were only available in German and Dutch webshops but it looks like expansys are bringing them to a wider audience. Expansys UK Edited title after receiving alert email from Expansys Edited March 18, 2005 by 4N1L
Guest MitchellO Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 That looks neat! That is something I missed from my T610 and iPAQ: their cradles. Was an easy way to charge them while being able to see the screen from a distance.
Guest Metoo Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 (edited) I think it looks cheap and horrible. Hardly matches the style of the Jam. Would also be much better if you could charge a spare battery, and have some way of connecting audio, seeing as it makes the headphone socket inaccessable. Still, as HTC look unlikely to deliver the cradle they promised, I suppose it's better than nothing! Edited March 6, 2005 by Metoo
Guest Perfectionist Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Why would HTC not make a cradle ? Dont they like making money ??
Guest MitchellO Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I think that it looks fine, although I agree it would be good to have an audio out on the cradle. Wouldn't be hard either, just put a little extention cable in there. A plug that goes into the socket when docked, and a connection on the back. Would be great go using with a stereo!
Guest Metoo Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Why would HTC not make a cradle ? Dont they like making money ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dunno, but the fact that they told pre-release press reviewers it would ship with a cradle *and* a spare battery, and the packaging has cutouts for these, suggests they were both pulled at the last minute for reasons unknown.
Guest MitchellO Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Probably to reduce costs. Either to up profit or down the price. A spare battery would have been very welcome, but I can live without a cradle.
Guest MitchellO Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Just noticed this on ebay. Looks good. And with a power adaptor!!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...5756768394&rd=1
Guest 7s Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 (edited) Just noticed this on ebay. Looks good. And with a power adaptor!!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...5756768394&rd=1 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My ebay cradle arrived today. It appears to be the same model as the Expansys one. It doesn't look anything like the pictures in the ebay auction but that's probably a good thing! I can post some pics if anybody is interested but I'm happy with the cradle. For $14+shipping with an ac adapter it's a good deal. It will also charge/sync via the usb connection as well. The ac adapter only fits the cradle and can't be used directly in to the JAM. I wish it were heavier since it's not easy to insert or remove the Jam but it works once you get used to it. It's cheap plastic construction but since HTC is never going to offer a real cradle it certainly works for now. Edited March 10, 2005 by 7s
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Expansys now have this cradle for order :D

Guest 4N1L Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 I received the cradle i ordered from expansys yesterday...and it seems perfectly adequate for its purpose. It's no work of art but it does the job. It's fairly light and holds the JAM (quite securely) at a slight angle. One thing to note is that it does not come with an a/c adaptor - just a USB cable thats fixed into the unit itself. I'm using the plug that came with my pull out charge & sync cable and all is good at the moment. There is also an incredibly bright (kind of turquoise blue) status light on the front that lights up the room at night, which is slightly annoying. All in all, i think it worth the £15 i paid as i really did miss not having a cradle.
Guest markdotpeters5 Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 I bought two of these, one for home and one for work. Does the job, and means it doesnt have to spend it's life lying down on the desk. the only downside is the blue led on the front is REALLY bright, quite annoyingly so in fact. Still, I've got round that in a couple of genius ways. Very happy with it overall.
Guest cipher1971 Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 (edited) How long did it take to get the cradle delivered from Expansys? I ordered mine on the 22nd and i've still not received anything, and their CS team seem as vague as usual. I'm really naffed off with Expansys over this as it's only the 2nd item i've ever ordered from them and I ended up cancelling the first one as they said they had stock when i ordered, then ran out, then would get more in a couple of days etc... that went on and on for weeks until I ended up cancelling it. I have a feeling that this order is going the same way. Cipher Edited April 1, 2005 by cipher1971
Guest andysalmon Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 I hope I can clear this up for you all. I have purchased the ebay cradle, my friend has the expansys one. THEY ARE THE SAME CRADLE. Mine cost £12 with an AC adaptor and my mates £15 without. Take you pick! PS That blue LED is bloody bright!!
