C500 File transfer no-go

Morning. I'm having problems transferring files to my SPV C500. Where I have successfully dropped mp3s into my phone via Windows Explorer and ActiveSync (Explore) for some reason it's not working now... I can access all the directories in my phone via my PC just fine and everything else to do with my PC and phone is working as it should as far as I know. It's just I can't transfer files (mp3s) to either my phone's storage or its card (which isn't full by any means)

Any clues anyone? Help very much appreciated

Thanks!

You might just be running low on phone memory :D

Check the available flash memory using Acessories-Spacemaker and try and free up as much memory as possible by deleting MMS, emails etc..

Check the Volatile following directory and delete any temp files.

Storage\Application Data\Volatile

Check the App Manager directory and make sure there are no uninstalled cab files.

Storage\Windows\AppMgr

Also delete any unwanted homescreens, photo's, programs etc that you have stored in the phones flash memory.

Thanks for the reply. I've got 23MB (83%) of Flash storage remaining. Apart from an empty Windows Media Temp folder there's nothing in Volatile. There are no uninstalled files in AppMgr and no excess of pictures or anything

When I drag a file over to the phone's storage, instead of turning to the add icon it retains the 'no go' icon if you know what I mean

Cheers

Just to clarify something - are you (goosegog) running the original 16Mb card or a new card? it looked like like the original card by the files and folders.

If it is delete all the files on the storage card (backup if neccessary) and you might be able to do it then.

also a PC restart and a Phone restart sounds like a crap idea but seems to work more often than not.

Thanks for the reply. I am running the original card on which I have previously been able to add/remove files but when the random god passed by he seems to have stopped all that! I backed up everything on the card. It all copied over to my PC fine. Restarted my PC and phone. Connected and got ActiveSync running, no Outlook. Flight mode. Still couldn't copy files to my phone. And now I can't copy my backed up files back to my card! :D Weird eh?

Just took my phone apart to see if there was a write protect tab on a mini-SD card, but no.

From your screenshot it looks to me that you're trying to copy 15 mp3 files (with a total of.... I guess... 80MB, 90MB?) to a 16MB card. Try to copy only one and see if it works. Try with other types of files and, if those work, there must be something with the conversion - maybe you have set some kind of conversion in activesync.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I haven't tried formatting. How do I do that please?

I'm running ActiveSync 3.7

Well spotted about the screenshot though that was just for screenshot purposes! I cannot transfer any file of any size

Thanks again!

You can format the miniSD by using SP Task Manager on the C500.

I'm running ActiveSync 3.7

Try installing ActiveSync 3.8.
