Guest jklondon Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 IF your comming near the end of your orange contract (i.e. gone past the 9 months mark) and have a reasonably high ARPU then do this: - Get a TMobile MDA (looks better than the M500 for sure! Dont know what Orange were thinking!) - Unlock (£20 quid imei-check.co.uk) - Total Cost ~ 241 (www.zeewee.co.uk are one of the companies doing it for free on Relax 100) - Get a free upgrade from Orange (Ok - you have to spend ~£50 a month which I do to get this I believe, phone them up - go to the disconnection department and ask them for their best deal! if your a really good customer they should also offer you a deal on the minutes - i.e. double for 6 months) - IF your lucky you will get a P910i or SPV M2000 to sell on ebay for ~ £300 PLUS ask them to get your existing phone unlocked. (So you could actually make around £50 profit!) - Stick the TMobile SIM in your old Orange Phone (so you get a second phone with free mins/texts)! Just my experience I thought id share it.. JK
Guest Uisdean Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 ... I had a similar idea... Now just need to sell my upgraded phone on ebay and my dastardly plan will have suceeded  [evil] ha ha HA HA HA HAAA [/evil]
Guest adey_london Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Yep, that's what I've just done too. Sold my year old P900 for £199 on ebay, then got my free upgrade from Orange, a P910, and sold that for £250 :-) Now I have an MDA, unlocked with my orange sim! I also got a cracking deal from customer retentions, Double mins for 12 months (400 for the price of 200) free texts and GPRS that doesn't cost the earth...
Guest Uisdean Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 (edited) I managed to get them to give me 'Select 750' which is orange's price match of Three's tarrif - 750 xnet mins for £35. I still never use them all, but it's nice to know they're there! Edited March 9, 2005 by Uisdean
Guest Wozbacca Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 i didnt think orange price matched to "three" the only one they offer is the 400mins orange premier
Guest Uisdean Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I think it depends on how much of a heavy user you are and whether you know that they do or not. Oh, and you must alrady have been with them for a while I think. I called and said I was moving to 'three', they ummed and ahhed and offered double minutes, so I told them that I knew they price mached 3 as they'd given it to a friend of mine and they gave it to me... ...probably helps that I use my mobile for work and my monthly bill was up to £100 some months.
Guest xda-rocks Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Orange will now price match the T-Mobile Daytime 3000 deal - 3000 mins/month during business hours for £15+vat
Guest Loukas Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hey all, Can you actually ask for an upgrade when you're in or past your 9th month? Or do you have to wait until your 11th month into the contract? Looking forward to getting an upgrade to the Orange M500 if/when it comes out in April! Thanks!
