Guest Perfectionist Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 (edited) I want it too ! Please let me buy a copy !! Edited March 7, 2005 by Perfectionist
Guest kurtfhouse Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I'm with you there! Apparently there will be a UK version, ikts just a case of when :-(
Guest Chaser81 Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 The reason Microsoft wont release the US version here is cause it doesnt work correctly for dialling numbers due to the US using a different syntax for their numbers. When you say to the Jam "Call 01865******" for example, it doesnt work, because its expecting you to say "Call 555-555-555". Until they sort this out, they wont release it over here. Annoying I know for you guys. I managed to get a copy, but only cause I have a mate who has family in the States, and he got them to buy it for me and then emailed it to me.
Guest Perfectionist Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Chaser.... any chance you could email us your copy until the UK version is released.... ?? Pretty please with sugar on top :D
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Why not just go to Handango and get a trial ? http://www.handango.com/PlatformSearch.jsp...h=voice+command :D
Guest GothTeddy Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 (edited) Stu, the point is that you can't buy it in the UK :D or can you? your link has me confused ;) Edited March 7, 2005 by GothTeddy
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I just did. It's working and is the most fun I've had in ages. Perhaps you guys should check PPC News section :D

Guest Perfectionist Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 (edited) Just wondering..... would it be immoral if somebody who has bought the UK version of Voice Command went ahead and quietly emailed the program to anybody who wants it ?? Personally I think, Yes it would be immoral cos Microsoft is a small struggling company that really respects all of its customers :D Edited March 8, 2005 by Perfectionist
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Morals don't come into it. Illegality does and Microsoft carries a big stick. MS also trusts Paul and the other MVPs to respect its licence agreements and the forum benefits from this. These benefits are passed on to the members so everyone's happy :D FWIW in terms of 'value for money' this is pretty cheap ;)
Guest En_croute Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I tell you, it may be $40, but it's worth it. I read this last night during a bout on insomina, and bought & downloaded the UK version there and then. You can't imagain how frustrating it was not to be able to call someone at 4.40am to try it out properly. Well, maybe I did try - sorry if you got a 1/2 ring from me last night
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Not having monitored the subject, what shocked me was the ability to run WMP solely with voice commands and interrogate the sucker on what my battery level / next appointment is. Then I was stumped as to how it could translate my croaky voice into calling my contacts on either home or mobile without any training.
Guest En_croute Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 SWEET !! Damn - maybe everything I post on this forum will miraculously appear the next day ...... :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please accept my thanks and gratitude for your fine work in this field 8)
Guest badlad Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 So whats the differences ? the ability to use the dial command only or ?
Guest En_croute Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Seems the same as the US trial version - bar the Dial function. Still testing this, but it seems fine with London numbers - provided you say it properly - i.e. 020 xxxx xxxx, and NOT 0207 etc / 0208 etc - That's just wrong, the London dialing code is now 020  . (rant over) As posted earlier that could be bypassed by using an international prefix - boring but it works.
Guest monty1 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Just got my copy today. where are people installing it on their MDA . It says it should go in main memory , but I had the trial version running ok on my storage card . So what should it be Main memory , storage or Storage card .

Its pretty much the only thing I have installed in main memory, with everything else being on my storage card. I cant use mine though at the moment, as I have a viral throat infection and I cant speak at all at the moment.... Boo... Have to use boring old stylus and buttons again until I get better!
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Chaser - see my last post. I may have the same bug as you but have had no problems with Voice Command. And I'm smoking too
