Guest RussellH Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 One of the techie guys at work says he's tightening wifi security, and is now setting authorisation for individual wifi users. To do this, he needs to know my phone's MAC number. The thing is, I don't know where to find it. Anyone know? Thanks, Russell
Guest Wozbacca Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 the mac address as its know is found under wireless lan manager. if you turn on the wifi, settings > wlan in the MAC box. it might only show when you're connetrced up on a network
Guest RussellH Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Thanks Wozbacca, Yes, I've seen that box, but it's blank. I can't connect to the company wifi any more since they changed their security settings, so I wondered if there was any other way of finding out what my MAC number is. The techie guy at work reckons it could be somewhere under the battery. I've had a look there, and this shows IMEI, S/N and P/N. I know it won't be the IMEI number, but I don't know what the other two are. Doesn't mention MAC number though.
Guest RussellH Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 (edited) I just tried connecting to an unknown wifi signal in London, just to see what came up in the MAC number box. I've made a note of it and disconnected again quickly! Would this be my MAC number, or could this be the one I connected to? Edited March 8, 2005 by RussellH
Guest fraser Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Yah, that's your own MAC. You could also get it using vxIPConfig. I also recommend their vxUtil tool, both are free.
