Guest Rui_Costa Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 basically my battery on my c500 lasted about 12 hours yesterday. i did however half charge via USB and the rest from the mains charger. Usage breakdown approx 1hr gnuboy (gameboy emulator) 30 mins of mp3s and moderate listening volume on loudspeaker. less that 3 mins of calls. the screen backlight is off after 10s and blackout after a few more. i also kept the task manager empty. the phone has also started to work VERY slowly. i have approx 75% free of phone memory and 20% free of storage card memory the last app i installed (after which the problems became more evident) was "Vieka Wordpad" from arfagev. Also again, after 3hrs of standby (after an overnight charge) it has taken a 5mm chunk out of the battery meter Question 1. is this anything to do with USB & Mains charging? Question 2. Could it be the recently installed software? has this ever happened before? Or Question 3. Is it something more sinister after having the phone for approx 3 weeks? P.S. Please Please Please Please Please Please, somebody do not say Hard Reset. i have all my software backed up but i dont want to have to load everything again (Mp3s take ages) Cheerz
Guest tudor Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Try to run the battery flat and fully charge it afterwards using the mains charger or a primary USB port (do not use USB hubs, especially passive ones). If this does not work, try a hard reset and use a SD card reader to transfer the mp3 collection - that would be faster. I believe you can reinstall and reconfigure all the software on your phone in an hour or two (I know I can :D ).

Also make sure Bluetooth isn't on all the time. It's a pain when you come out of areplane mode and it comes on even if you turned it off before entering That mode. Why are you using MP3? Use OGG or WMA, it's smaller and to an untrained ear you can't tell the difference between 128kb/s 44hz MP3 and 64kb/s 44hz OGG/wma. Betaplayer rules Edited March 8, 2005 by djfuego
Guest Rui_Costa Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I usually get a couple of days use easy - even when using phone as an MP3 player/games machine. I will try running the battery flat and always using Primary USb port. but its the sudden problem thats got me stumped.

You don't have to wait to recharge your battery. When you are on your computer just plug in the cable, That's what I do.

If there's any expert on batteries here, please advise. Edited March 8, 2005 by tudor
Guest moosery Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I read that Li-ion batteries have a shelf life irrespective of how you treat them (within reason..freezing them or playing football with them probably doesn't count). I think it's about 3 yrs? however I had these probs on my mpx200 frequently. It would suddenly start sapping all the battery in about 4hrs. The only thing I could find that would stop it was... ...a hard reset.

Guest Rui_Costa Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 The last thing i installed was that wordpad from airfagev. put i havent heard og software causing hardware problems like this. i hardly ever use BT, and the battery is juicing quite fast but a lot more "reasonable" i.e. about a third gone in 1 days standby (including the hours worth of gaming) i hate to say it but i feel like a hard reset is coming. (if this stays the same)
