Guest A.Hughes Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hi everyone,,,before i take the plunge, just wanted to know am i making the right decision,,,,,,,,,,, SP3i looks good, but how does it fair to the SPV C500?? Any views appreciated, Thanks Regards Andy
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I was making the same choice recently, and opted to stay with the C500 largely because of the number of reported joystick and "soft key" problems.
Guest simon211175 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I also had the same decision to make. The C500 is about half the price and really only has a different shell. If you play games though, then perhaps the joystick on the SP3i would be better suited?
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I assumed that the joystick was still only 4 directions (i.e. not diagonals) so that won't make much difference to game playing
Guest A.Hughes Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Thanks everyone, i think i'll stay put for the time being, seems there might be a new smartphone on its way anyway!!!!!! :D
Guest pietta Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 good idea, the thing that annoys me with my c500 is the screen, the resolution is bad, big pixels and when viewing websites with opera you can barely see anything. Im waiting for the qvga one in may :D

Guest scm7rap Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 QVGA is a new screen with a resolution of 240 x 320. Apparantly. No idea what it stands for though.

Guest scm7rap Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 It is in QXGA, which is another new graphics standard. When it come out, does this mean there will be loads of smartphone owners roaming around, hitting the side of their phones, which make funny beeping noises, and shouting for someone called Holly?

Quantum Xtended Graphics array sounds cool. I think XGA is more to do with PC monitors? Who's holly? Edited March 10, 2005 by confused and hungover
Guest scm7rap Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 You never watched Quantum Leap then.

Guest Confucious Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 QVGA is a new screen with a resolution of 240 x 320. Apparantly. No idea what it stands for though. VGA (Video Graphics Array) is 640 * 480 so 240 * 320 is half in each direction which gives a quarter of the size so I guess QVGA = Quater Video Graphics Array. The problem with waiting is the next model is always just arround the corner and better. There are some fantastic deals on the C500 at the moment (including free GPS) and it's a great phone. but it's your choice, the SP3i is basically the same phone but with a joystick for a lot more money (at least in the UK) Just my 2d's worth
