Guest chyang Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 When I connected my phone to my PC and transfer large files to my SD card on the phone, say about 10MB mp3 files to the phone, it stopped at some part of the copy progress, and then the ActiveSync will report disconnected. I can do nothing but remove the cable and re-insert it and then re-connected. Has any one else met this problem? What's the problem inside? Is there any solution for this one? I have a MPX200 with smartphone 2003 system, with a Kinston Elite Pro 512MB SD card. Thanks.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Best thing to do is get a card reader for large files as Activsync can have a habit of timing out while transfering large files.

Guest Z3RatuL Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 The problem is not with Activesync it's with WM2003. I tried to copy a large movie file (145mb) I created with PocketDivXEncoder and with WM2003 at about 50mb it timed out all the three times I tried. With WM2002 everything went smooth. I believe there's something with WM2003. Also make sure you have at least Activesync 3.7, although I recommend using a 3.8 :D

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Activsync has need known to timeout etc with large files since the first SPV so that blows the 2003 v 2002 idea out of the water :D As we have said here from day one get yourself a card reader, for the sake of a few ££ it will save you time as well as hassle.
Guest Z3RatuL Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 (edited) I'm using 3.8.0, still met the problems. :D OK, but are you still trying to copy the file from WM2003? Give it a go with 2002 and tell me if this works... Know that it will take some time to copy it and it may re-copy it after it has finished. So let it finish (both times if it's needed) and your file will be there for sure! I don't know about that, but I just stated what I've encoutered with both OS' And since it copied the file without the need of spending more €€€ for a card reader I'm happy :D Edited March 11, 2005 by Z3RatuL
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Another trick I have learnt with larger files and this goes for PPC as well keep pressing the direction button every minute or so it appears to keep the phone awake and makes downloading files more reliable.
