how to set up wifi if ur a dummy

ok i admit i have a spv2000 and i havent any idea at all how to use this wifi thing. At home i am connected via 4 meg broadband. I dont have a clue what i need or what i have to do to get this working..all i know is when i drive along the road every so often something pops up asking me if i wanna connect to the internet if I say yes nuttin happens. I dont know if i need a router cuz aagin i have no clue.

Is there some kind genius who can put some easy step by step guide for people like me who basically have a utility on this phone that i have no idea of how to work or how to set up to work

It's the exact same proceedure as sharing your internet connection with several computers, just in this case one is phone.

You will need a router if your PC isn't turned on all the time. Otherwise, you can make the PC the router, which is cheaper and slightly easier to set up. However, I don't see the point to that, 'cos if I have a PC on, I'll be using that not the phone. The idea was to be able to check mail etc without needing a PC!

If you go down the router route (sorry, bad pun), the router will go into you broadband, then your PC(s) will plug into the router. Get a WiFi router that also allows ethernet. You can plug switches/hubs into the router to handle as many PCs as you want in future, so don't worry too much about how many ports the router has.

If you want the quick and dirty, but your PC must be on idea, buy a PC WiFi dongle, google for "windows internet connection sharing" and follow the instructions.
