sorry everyone.. this is a new replacement phone from orange and the plastic grey bit was inside... this caused the hardreset not to work..

I had nothing in my SD slot, real/bluff or otherwise. Worked fine ;) Its possible theres some switch the bluff activates, but as it is not a real card, the spv hangs when trying to "read" it, maybe?

Too good! I was stuck with the same problem for ages till I found ur info! I attest that removing that plastic' slot solve the problem nicely.

I tried a hard reset on friend's SPV this morning and it wouldn't work until I thought about removing the grey plastic bit - then it worked first time!

I did a search on this I really did.....here ya go

When using IA Caller ID...I dont like the animated screens so I use the plain mode.

But I didn't like that it took out the original orange background. I wanted the caller's picture in the lower left and the Orange Phone in the lower right. So I went into the registry to change

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai

to be

Callalert = windowscall.gif

Then I decided to reset my phone for this to take effect but it reset most of my phone on reboot. My programs were still there but EVERYTHING else was reset. Settings, Sound Files, Home Screens, etc.

So I tried to do a HARD RESET. It worked up until I went to go hit END.

There is no END. The only option on any of the 3 menus is the IPSM RESET...nothing else!!!!

So I pulled out my battery and tried to restart. The phone locked on the sunset screen and wouldn't leave. So I took out the SD card and started agin where it booted up.

I then tried to Hard Reset Again...but it still gives me no END!!!

WAZZUP WIT DAT?????

What were you searching for to dig up this old post?

There is no END option on the later bootloader all you need to do

is to just press and hold the power button until the phone starts to reboot.

If you are now stuck on the sunset screen there is a chance you have killed your phone :?

If a hard reset does not work you could try and run the Orange update, but if all else fails

you may have to return the phone to Orange :)

As described, I needed to remember how to do a hardset, the last time I did it was a month ago. CoolSmartphone said to navigate to and hit END and so did some threads here. I did that last time I did a hard reset.

Previously I had updated my phone to 1.3.5.6 but I can not get the 1.3.7 update because I am using the phone under T-Mobile here in the US.

Whenever I try to run the Update it says my phone IS up to date and I dont get any options for the keyboard drivers or anything.

Anyway....the phone works again and I am back to putting everything back on it. I am not loading IA Caller ID again! (Yes, I will blame it 'cause it's the root of my problems today.)

My bootloader is .98

Can you think of a reason that my phone would crash. I had installed IA Caller ID, taken it completely off and restored ny CALL.GIF pic before as stated above. Do you think when I tried to restore the pic while IA Caller ID was installed....that crashed the phone...I do.

Anyway...I didn't know the END option was gone. Can you point me to a thread that says that. Searching these forums for something like HARD RESET brings up 3000 results and you see what I got as my best find. All the other results said DO A SEARCH. You see where that got me.

Thanks! :)

Nick

Talking about the SD card blank, notice if you insert it the backlight comes on so I guess whatever it triggers is mechanical not electrical!
