Guest mike-oh Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 (edited) I've done a quick search around on here and it's had a few mentions yet no-one has really flagged it. So here it is MortPlayer Great sounding, fully skinable and you can use it as an alarm clock/sleep timer too! It also has nice big buttons for when you're in the car. (assuming you choose the right skin) oh yes and it's FREEEE!!! :D enjoy Mike :D Edited March 10, 2005 by mike-oh
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 It'll take some doing to get me away from WMP with Voice Command functioning but this does look nice.
Guest fraser Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I use it as well. It doesn't do steaming though, it's one big downfall. Keep BetaPlayer around for that (plus video).
Guest mike-oh Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 But it does do streaming, via bluetooth at least.
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 One thing Mike-Oh didn't mention which is cool is the Today screen plugin. Nice EQ pre-sets too :D
Guest mike-oh Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 That's maybe because he didn't realise there was one! :D unless you mean the smaller player which hugs the top of the screen?! But now you mention it i think i did see something which actually had button embedded on the today screen. I'll have to play with it properly when i've got less essays to write! oh yeh and the EQ pre-sets are great. Techno for me :D
Guest LadFromWales85 Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Is it possible for music players (or any other application for that matter) to access Windows shares mapped with Resco File Manager? At the moment, I can browse my files with Resco and add them to gsplayer/betaplayer, but they cant access the shares themselves. Mortplayer does look cool though :D

Techno for me :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's a separate download for the Today screen plugin. Gives you a narrow skinnable bar with stop, start, skip fwd, skip back buttons and displays track info. It's techno for me too 8) :D Is it possible to rip mix-CDs as single MP3s ?
Guest mike-oh Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Is it possible to rip mix-CDs as single MP3s ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is but i couldn't tell you what software to use as it was years ago when i last did it. (how useless is that?!?)
Guest fraser Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 The free ripper "cdex" can do that. Google for it; I think it's on sourceforge.
Guest Perfectionist Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I use WinamPaq which is superb (Just like WinAmp) ;) This link is to version 0.93 - http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=37 There is a version 1.0 beta now but I had problems getting it to run properly so went back to the older version ...... http://www.winampaq.com/new/index.html http://www.ppcsg.com/lofiversion/index.php/t32118.html
Guest Webreaper Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I've been trying to get any of these players to play MP3s directly from a network share, with no joy at all. If I go to a shared folder (\\computername\music) across the network (using Resco Explorer) and click 'Open with...' on an MP3, select MortPlayer (or TCPMP) get nothing. MortPlayer gives me a '\network\music not found!' error... Any idea why it doesn't work? It's odd, as I can successfully play .AVI files using exactly the same method with TCPMP across the network.
Guest Webreaper Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Aha. Just figured it out. I have a share \\computer\music, under which sits the folders for various albums, etc. So there might be: \\computer\music\Gorillaz\Demon Days \\computer\music\Gorillaz\Gorillaz \\computer\music\Pink Floyd\The Wall etc. Now, I've just tested, and if I explicitly put in \\computer\music\Gorillaz\Gorillaz as a path within MortPlayer, it finds the tracks in that subdir, and plays them. But if I just put in \music, or even \music\Gorillaz, nothing comes back. So, is there any way to browse down within the file structure? I'd ideally just like to be able to select 'Gorillaz' and play all tracks (i.e., both albums, one after the other), but without having to specifically remember/type the full path? The best solution would be if I could somehow add a 'Play in MortPlayer' entry to the context menu for folders within Resco Explorer. Is it possible? If not, are there any MP3 players which support this sort of network browsing?
Guest XTCrefugee Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 (edited) @Webreaper Clicking on a song from a share to play it works fine for me with TCPMP - possibly you need to set the network up as the 'my network' root instead of /network in Resco. Doesn't work with MortPlayer though. In the MortPlayer menu, go to Open dialog->Favourites. Click the + at the top and enter a name for your network. This isn't strictly necessary, but I find it useful to have separate favourites lists for my offline and network music. Click on the other + by the listbox. Enter (in your case) \\computer\music and click OK. Make sure 'Include subdirectories' and 'Show contained folders' are selected. Click Save, then OK. MortPlayer will then scan your share. When you add/remove music from your PC, you will need to do an Open dialog->Refresh Favourites in MortPlayer. Now just go to your playlist and click add, + or whatever it is on your skin. You can then add songs from a specific subdirectory, all songs on your PC with 'All favourites', or songs in the root (\\computer\music) with 'Other files'. Should work for playlists too, but I don't use them myself. By the way, does anyone know of a good looking VGA MortPlayer skin that displays more than just track/album title and has both portrait and landscape modes? Preferably I'd like one that displays covers like the built-in skin, but any more ID3 info would be good. Edited June 14, 2006 by XTCrefugee
Guest Webreaper Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 It's okay, I just use PocketMusic - which just allows me to browse the network. :)
