Guest Chrisss Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Hello. I'm tempted to get the C500 with my Orange upgrade very soon. One thing I really hate about my E200 is the quality of music playback using the headphones. Is this just an issue with the supplied headset or is the phone itself terrible as delivering any decent sound out of the headphone socket? I've had a play with my girlfriend's new Nokia 6230 which sounds rather lovely in comparison. Since a new phone will probably be used lots with MP3 playback some nice sound would be great.
Guest Chrisss Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 There must be someone using the C500 who knows what the sound quality is like with both the standard headphones and proper headphones using an adapter or mod of the headset. Decent sound possible with the phone?
Guest tudor Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 The sound quality is excellent if you have the right headphones for the C500. I'm using Sony MDR-EX71SL Fontopia headphones with a Hama Stereo Headphone Adapter 2.5mm to 3.5mm, and the quality is decent. However, if I plug my big Technics headphones, the sound is much louder and the frequency response is even better. Probably you can't compare the C500 with an iPod, but if you have the right headphones, you get much better quality than with the original ones.
Guest pharma79 Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 This phone has a nasty TSS sound that if not sorted, makes stereo sound and music play useless.
Guest jmun2098 Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 I bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter to listen to music with my mpx220 and i am only getting sound from one side??? does anybody know how to make sound come out of both headphones???
Guest bluesmudge Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 I bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter to listen to music with my mpx220 and i am only getting sound from one side??? does anybody know how to make sound come out of both headphones??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> are you sure its wiggled in properly?? And anouther thing is when i was looking for a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter i found alot of mono adapters - hence one headphone working. Make sure urs isn't! I use an adapter from an old IPAQ does the job brilliantly - MP3 playback is brilliant - unlike iPODs which should be drop kicked

Guest t3dluke Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 There is a slight electronic hiss but is completely inaudiable when listening to music on mine. My Sony's give better quality from the phone than my mates ipod but that could be down to encoding quality.

It depends on the music you listen to, the bitrate you encoded to and your aureal abilities if you could hear it or not. but i bet 100$ that your phone has the bug to, if its the device on your avatar. 8) regards bazzo
Guest tudor Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 The so-called "tss sound bug" is not something you would notice during music playback. There are so many C500 users that are happy with the phone as a music player. Unless you are in the 2% most demanding audiophiles, you'd be perfectly happy with the quality C500 provides.

Guest Confused Stu Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Guys, please! Let's all play friendly here. :D For what it's worth, I'm in the minority that have never noticed the soundbug, but are quite happy to accept it's there. I've never played a test-file, or looked into it at all because I know if I do hear it once then that'll be the only thing I'll ever hear when playing music - and I enjoy playing music on my phone! In short, although I really admire Bazzo and are astounded by his work and efforts, yes ignorance is bliss as far as me and this subject are concerned.

Guest bazzo Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 thanks for the appreciation of my work8) bu lemme get back to topic I dont know about the sound of the C500, but i use a T-mobile SDAmusic an used a SDA before. I think the sound should be simmilar to C500s sound. I simply think it sounds great. (at least in the 16seconds between soundbugs appearance) The Headset of the SDA was not really good, the one from SDAmusic is much better, but not good enough for me;) im using a pair Sennheiser MX500 on a self-build-2,5->3,5-Adaptor, it is really really a pleasure to listen to music on these devices with proper headphones. but its not a pleasure if you notice the Soundbug, but not all will notice it. It depends on music-style, bitrate, headphones and last but not least your ear, if you will hear it or not. regards bazzo
