SanDisk mSD Cards and the MPx220

Like several others on this site, I've been through ](*,) and back with a (512Mb) Sandisk card sold by Best Buy as suitable for the MPx220. Never worked right, files and directories were corrupted and disappeared/reappeared at random. Other issues too numerous to mention. :frown: I was about to toss the phone and considered switching to a Treo over this apparent inability of the phone to function properly with a memory card.

Well, turns out that Sandisc mSD cards are NOT suitable for use in cell phones of any kind. Says so right on their web site.

(Check it out here: http://www.sandisk.com/retail/compatibility.asp there are no Sandisk (m)SD cards that are compatible with mobile phones of any kind!)

Following the lead of othes on this site, I ordered a PQI card from Outpost.com. It, and my phone, are now paragons of virtue, with perfect file stability, App performance and fidelity.

Get a card that is known to work. Send the other one back.

To the Administrators, might be useful to start a listing of cards that are GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) and those that appear to be problematic. Might also be useful to notify Moto and have them research the issue and 'certify' cards or at least post the performance criteria for this device.

Good Luck

Actually I got a 256 mini SD (SDSDM-256 part #) card from Fry's and on the outside package it show a girl holding a phone and saying "Smartphone combatilbe, preconfigured" and I just pulged it in and it worked.

Not saying that your did not work or anything...just giving you my two cents on SD cards. Oh and I got this card last weekend.

Very interesting. I checked this site for several days before posting, and the current response was NOT what it generated. Last week, and up to this weekend, this same site said that the only products they made that were compatible with mobile phones were a pair of Memory Sticks that worked with a couple of Ericcson phones from Asia. Frankly, I didn't understand why they bothered!

I wonder if they saw the post and decided to fix their website?

Nevertheless, I, along with lots of others here, have had the same experience:

MPX220 + SanDiskmSD = Bad Phone

Same MPx220 + Other mSD Card = Happy Phone! :D

You can find this same situation reported by lots of others on this site. So I still think it would be good to have people report on their experiences, happy or bad, with all types of cards, so we could see if there was a set of reliably compatible manufacturers cards, and some to avoid.

Thanks for the heads up regarding their change to their site. Still wondering what's up with their cards tho.

I presume it was a SanDisk card. FYI, the package for mine said nothing about being "Smartphone compatible". I wonder if it's just different advertising, or did they change their design, or do they make 2 'flavours' of mSD card?

Interesting to hear this info. If there are a mix of expereinces with this manufacturer, then this is as important as if all of them failed.
