Guest RussellH Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I've posted this in the MS Voicedial UK thread in News, but thought this was the best place to be asking. I've tried to install the UK version to my M2000, but it won't work. The US version installed OK previously, but I uninstalled it a few weeks back, because it didn't always respond well to my voice! I've tried several times now, and every time I get the error message: "Microsoft Voice Command UK PPC trial 1.50 was not installed successfully. Please run Setup again". I've checked to make sure all traces of the US trial have been removed, and they have. I've checked that I have sufficient memory, which I have. It says I have 46.63 MB program memory free. I've been able to install other programmes OK, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does anybody know why this might not be working properly? Thanks, Russell
Guest Chaser81 Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 When you say "I have removed all traces of the previous trial software", are you absolutely sure? I think Microsoft puts something in the registery to let the install program know that the trial has been tried once already. The only time I have managed to get it to install again is after a hard reset.
Guest RussellH Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Hi Chaser81, Thanks for the reply. I used the "Find" facility to search for "Voice" and it didn't find any trace of it, though I guess it won't have searched the registry. This makes sense, as MS won't want people continually using trial software and never buying the full product. The UK version is though a different product to the US one isn't it? The thing is, because I've tried the US trial version and Fonix Voice Dial, and found both of these to be unsatisfactory at recognising my voice, I don't really want to buy the UK version until I've tried it first, just to make sure.
Guest Chaser81 Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 There are a few registery editors out there for PPC which are free of charge. You could get ahold of one and do a search for any reg keys related to MS Voice Command and delete them (though I take no responsibility for you doing so!!). The "Find" command on the PPC only finds documents and files, so that wont have searched the registery, you are right.
