Guest forcer Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I find impossible to accomplish the bluetooth synchronization of C500 with 2 computers. Synchronization with one PC works fine. But it seems like the second partnership always rewrites the first one. Here is the description of my problem: I have brought my laptop to work and this is the test I am trying to accomplish: Laptop: - I turn on the bluetooth on laptop - Go to options -> Pc Settings - > change to use the laptop computer - then I perform the Connect to Bluetooth option - Activesync successfully connects to the laptop work PC: - I shutdown the bluetooth on laptop - I start the bluetooth on work PC - Go to options -> Pc Settings - > change to use the work computer - then I perform the Connect to Bluetooth option - Activesync fails This behaviour is occuring to me for all the time. I can remove the bluetooth pairing and ActiveSync partnership and then recreate the new one. Always the partnership which was created the last takes over and I am able to synchronize with this machine. Note that I am always selecting the Partnership that enables two computer connection (through the activesync new partnership wizard). Strange thing is, that if I have the laptop bluetooth connection working and I specify to use the work PC through "the options -> Pc Settings - > change to use the work computer" then it connects to laptop! Like it does not take any settings from that place. I have even tried to restart the phone or pc, but it does not help. This thing drives me nutts. I am trying to accomplish the synchronization with 2 PC for over 3 months. I wish Microsoft could say if it is possible or not. Cheers, Janusz
Guest ElGato65 Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 (edited) Sure I read on here recently it is not possible to AS with BT to more than 1 PC. I was hoping to accomplish the same, but have resigned myself to using USB at work on the back of my docking station and have bought a BT dongle for my home PC so I can use the C500 "wireless" @ home. The bonus is that the phone gets fully charged during the day and is ready to go BT all evening. Not ideal, but I figured using USB @ work wasn't too much of an inconvenience. Guest forcer Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Thanks for your reply. I am glad that you have managed to connect with combination of USB and Bluetooth. I have tried to do in the same way but I am experiencing the same problem as with the 2 Bluetooth connections. Simply, my USB connection won't work if I setup the bluetooth connection as the second. Can you describe how did you make it work? Sure I read on here recently it is not possible to AS with BT to more than 1 PC. Guest roma0803 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 (edited) I ActiveSync with BT on 2 computers. My laptop from work and my pc at home. Never failed. It is a bit of a stupid action you have to take before you can sync with the second pc. Assuming you paired with both pc's. I read you can succesfully sync with one. Now what I do is turn of Bluetooth on the phone. Change the computer I want to sync with in the ActiveSync (options) menu. Turn on BT again. Got to Accessories and enable BT serial port. When doing that, select the correct computer when asked. Try to sync. Might need to retry one or two more times. This should do the trick. Now when you want to sync with your other pc again, you have to go through these same steps again. Edited March 17, 2005 by roma0803
Guest moosery Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 yeah I can confirm that sounds about right. I can sync with 2 pcs, but you have to fiddle with the pairing/setup every time you change pc. I have settled for using the cable at work..I cant be bothered with all the hassle..
Guest scrattyrat Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 I can activesync at home with BT and USB ok (eventually), but cant activesyne with USB at work (dont have BT there). It just wont recognise ive plugged my device in and wont even charge. Looking at my phones activesync> pc settings only my home pc is an option for the computer i want to connect to. I assume i need to have my work pc shown as an option here too, but how do i do this? The BT setup process includes discovering devices (This is how my home PC is an option in the activesync> pc settings menu) but i cannot find any similar process to add a non-BT device for USB connection? can anyone help me? Thanks
