Guest ciudatelu Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 (edited) Is it possible to install Windows media Player 10 on my C500? If yes, where to get it? If no, why? :D Thanks Edited March 14, 2005 by ciudatelu
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 No, because the software hasn't been released as a stand-alone product for Smartphones. The only way you will get it is as part of an operator ROM. Some phones already come with it as standard.
Guest ciudatelu Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Yeah i know some phones already have it (SMT5600 or something like that).... too bad it's not available :D
Guest cold_fire Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 No it is not available , but i recommend you Beta Player , i am using it from over a month and it is better than WMP . It also has more features : -repeat , shufle for tracks , audio or video -playlist with only the tracks you want - it can fw and rew , and also change track in playlist mode - it has equalizer - you can personalize the keys for it's features - file association : asf , wma , wmv , wm , avi , divx , pls , m3u , asx , wmx , wvx , wax, mp4 , 3gp , m4a , mkv , mka , ogg , ogm , rmp , mp1 , mp2 , mp3 , mpa , m1v , m4v , mpeg , mpg , mpv , dat , aac , enough ? ? - it is freeware , and there is an encoder also freeware (Pocket divx encoder ) which with u can encode your movies , videos for mobile format and it does it brilliant , the quality is very good . 8) :D
Guest scm7rap Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I have beta player and it is good. Although I can't get it to play WMV files. It's not a major prob as I don't use them much but I would like to know why. When I check Beta players file associations, wmv is not not listed - at least not specifically. And if OI try to play a wmv file in BP it just says it's an unrecognised file format. Is this a codec issue? I didn't think I'd have that problem with BP.
Guest tudor Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 -repeat , shufle for tracks , audio or video You can do this in WMP as well. - it is freeware , and there is an encoder also freeware (Pocket divx encoder ) which with u can encode your movies , videos for mobile format and it does it brilliant , the quality is very good . Windws Media Player is free (it's already on the phone) and Windows Media Encoder is freeware too, and the quality is good too. Personally, I prefer WMP and I use a small utility to create playlists for it. BetaPlayer crashes when playing wmv files.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I would guess that Microsoft would charge to licence the wmv codec, and the makers of Beta Player don't want to part with that cash for a freeware product. Personally I use WMP for music because I prefer the (comparatively) small file size of wma files (who needs sonic fidelity on a small device with tiny headphones that is only used to play music on the Tube? (the London Underground to non-UK readers!)). Having said that I do prefer Beta Player for video files for it's full screen option.
Guest tudor Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Having said that I do prefer Beta Player for video files for it's full screen option. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WMP has that option too!
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I use WMA for audio (converted with AllToWMA), and AVI for video (ripped from DVD with PocketDVD), all of which play very nicely in one app .... BetaPlayer WMP9, WMP10 makes no difference to me
