C500 & TomTom wont save settings..

So i went ahead and bought a tomtom..

amazing little gizmos..

anyways down the my issues- ive been on modaco all day (since it all arrived this morning) and ive been googling it and come up with nothing, so here i am..

Ive transferred all the files to the mini-sd,

all loaded up,

given it the update thingy,

connects to the gps ok,

however it has some random route already set in - and if it cant pick me up it puts me in the middle of nowhere..

everytime i load it up i have to clear the route.. not the worst thing in the world i hear you say.. that is true, however when it does that for all your settings - i.e. all my speed camera noises, etc etc - all go when the program restars.. its the strangest thing in the world..

its driving me CRAZY.. :evil:

basically to recap -

i bought tomtom, i spose one might say it works once you set it all..

everytime i save something - even something as simple as my favourites or home - it will go when the program restarts..

all files are on the mini-sd card..

any help would be great,

Did you copy everything on the SD to the miniSD as is and not into another folder?

Yeh - all in the root dir...

i've been pulling my hair out!

Make sure that all the files and folders for tomtom are NOT read only.

That was the first thing I checked..

Anyways, I managed to put the files there (using BT Activesync).

Any more ideas? Its still driving me nuts..

Have you rebooted your phone since installing the traffic update?

I presume you have otherwise you would not be getting the TomTom GPS unit to work properly.

I have never heard or experienced this problem before.

I had exactly the same problem but sorted it by going thro every single file on my mini sd card and unchecking the read only box (found under properties) using the phones file manager

you are a legend!

there were a few read only files in the Great-Britain-Map folder.. the folder itself was not read only, but as i went through all the files i found a few that were - unchecked the read only box and bobs your uncle!

I've got exactly the same problem with the random route planning and missing settings when i open up the program...have followed your advice but to no avail. I looked at all the tomtom files on the mini sd - all of them have the 'archive' box checked in properties but none were 'read only' - any ideas?? Thanks..
