Thinking about changing WM2003 version.

So I bought my phone off of ebay with the phone already upgraded to WM2003. The version is the hellomoto flower version. Everything works pretty well execpt that battery life kills me. I have been reading around and heard that many of the people who are experiencing decent battery life had used the cartman German rom, then changed to english, then did the gsm fix, then did hard reset . I did the hard reset off of a full charge many times to my phone and battery is still 10 hours standby. So the question I have is, should I do what I have read? I have access to the files I need, but would it make sense to install the cartman german wm2003 and do those things in hope to acheive better battery life? Or am I totally wrong and are some of the people with good battery life using the hellomoto version? Please help. Thanks

Also. Is there a way I can tell whether this phone has had the gsm fix applied to it? I have heard that this helps with battery life as well. I have the gsm fix, but don't know whether I should install it. On another note, is there different versions of the GSM fix or is there one version that should work?

ok as of now i'm not going to change my version of WM2003, but I am still pondering doing the gsm fix once one of you can tell me more about it. I currently have 2 versions of the gsm fix but they are both the same size. 2006 kb. Again if there is a way to tell if I already have it I would appreciate knowing, also would like to know if there is diff versions. thanks.

If I recall correctly, the GSM fix is applied after the first Cartman ROM flash. Therefore, if you apply the GSM fix you can test out the handset and re-flash to the Cartman ROM later.

Well i don't have the cartman rom on my phone right now. I have the hellomoto one. Can I apply the GSM fix to that?

The GSM fix was released at the same time the flower 2003 was released and it is designed for that ROM and not the cartman.

I did not use the gsm fix and I still have 3-4 days battery.

HMM awarner.. thats food for thought, I figured you had it. well I've tried master resets and everything. The only thing I haven't tried is flashing to the rom again and the hard resetting. I don't have the flower rom on my computer... i'd have to go find it. Is that the one they are calling super moto? What size will it be? I have TWO that are 31,908 kb The name of one is super_moto and the name of the other is r1-sp2k3-ger.. which I think is the cartman.. but i'm not sure. Please help.

For clarification what is the purpose of the gsm fix? what is it supposed to do? Apparently its not needed if you and others don't have it. But i'm curious.

I used the SUPERMOTO_2 (flower on startup) release and intalled the gsm-fix to get GPRS working and improve the battery life... am on day 2 of a full charge after texting and calls with full battery life

what size is the supermoto2.. i just have supermoto 1 so i guess I need to find this other one.

btw guys.. Should I be getting supermoto 2... would that be better than supermoto 1 if i'm going to do this. If I have the hellomoto flower version and would like to keep this, is that supermoto2? Thanks again you've all been quite helpful.

Ok I may as well just explain what I am doing here. First of all I have supermoto2 the 23,324 kb one and the accompanying gsm fix. And like I said the phone I bought has come with the hellomoto startup version of 2003. I've had problems with battery life that have not been solved by hard reset's. I figured that maybe if I charged totally, flashed to the supermoto2 rom (which i'm not sure is the same one but thats where i'm looking for help from you guys to tell me) , hard reset on full charge, did gsm fix, flash again, that i would acheive better battery life. Is there any logical thinking to any of this? Please let me know.

If you have 2003 and it is not the cartman rom then you do have the latest version unless it's the AT&T rom which is unlikely.

The best solution is to go back again to WM2002. I done it yesterday and get a lot of flash memmory to instal new programs.

It really does not worth change to wm2003.

I have upgraded my MPx200 WM2002 to WM2003 3-4 days ago. It has many differences now. If I list them;

- Themes now work correctly. You can use nearly every theme you want.

- Plug-ins now working correctly.

- Of course you can run 2003 programs on your phone (example GAYDAR (= )

- BATTERY LIFE is very short. I am searching for an update-program for that. I heard that GSM-Fix also helps with that.

- Unnecessary things have been removed (when I try to forward a sms, first I must delete e-mail things (sender, time, subject, etc...))

- Overall performance is improved.

I find flash upgrade very hard (I cannot use armadillo) and installed it. On the opening, it shows a flower, after that Windows startup screen, after that a motorola icon that says "This ROM coded by M.S.(I think Motorola Systems)". But battery life makes you very annoyed sometimes. 6 hours??? I don't know what to do. I say, if you find 2003 upgrade, just do it. I think they will relase a rom that fixes battery life too. (sorry about my English)

You should remember to turn the accept beams function off. In some versions it's on by default and it drains the battery. I believe I have the same rom as you, but it says extended rom m.s or sometinhg. Battery life is better than with 2002.

I hate to state the obvious here, but if you bought your MPx200 off of ebay then you likely got a NOT new battery.

Consider buying the OEM hi capacity lithium ion battery for the MPx200 (that's the battery stamped with a hologram, not the crappy "OEM Compatible" batteries floating out on the market). With mp3 and movie playback, exchange email, and some light ebook reading my phone lasts all day on that battery.

Keep your old battery charged before putting in a new battery. Anytime you need to reflash the phone or reformat, just pop in the OLD battery. This gets around that damn memory effect.
