Guest idgilmore Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I keep having poor performance from my SPV E200 battery. I have to recharge every night - when i'm getting critical warnings - even when I havent used the phone during the day. Any suggestions? my settings are all set to minimise battery but still this isnt enogh. :D
Guest beersoft Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Hi welcome to the site the best thing to do is 1) backup all your contacts/my documents/programs 2) charge the phone using the mains charger for at least 5 hours 3) when the phone has been fully charged for at least 90 mins 4) hard reset the phone whilst keeping it plugged into the charger 5) restore contacts and other stuff and your phone should have a noticable improvement in battery life later Owen
Guest Confused Stu Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Stupid question, I know, but Orange always come out with a ROM upgrade for each phone they release, and each always says it improves battery life. Has your phone had the ROM upgrade? (Any E200 owners out there can tell us which ROM version is the old or new one cos I missed out on that particular phone) :D
Guest beersoft Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 the latest rom from orange for the e200 was 2.0.7.1 i think :D trust me on the battery tip, i havent found out why it works, but it does work later Owen

That's the latest I have, anyway. You know, I disagreed about the hard reset on a full battery thing until I was blue in the face. I never saw any difference on the 8390. Now that I have an E200, that was the first "trick" I tried and it does seem to work and make a very noticable difference. I stand corrected. :-) I'm also thinking that the latest imate ROM gives a noticable boost to battery life over the latest orange rom, at least according to the beersoft battery monitor. After 5 hours, it's telling me I have a day and a half left on the battery which is at 85%. Using the orange rom, it might have hit that point in 3 or 4 hours.
Guest idgilmore Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 No, dont think my phone has had ROM update, will try the hard reset 1st, then will try the ROM update. cheers

It always has for me, anyway. And for what it's worth, more playing around has led me to believe there really isn't any practical difference in battery life between the latest imate and orange roms. Since the orange system offers a few more nicities....integrated MMS, the plugin that a whole lot of nice homescreens rely on, etc....I'm sticking with the orange rom. What I did was charge the phone for an hour or after the light turned green, then flashed it with the latest orange rom. Battery life mostly depends on how hard you use the phone but it's been pretty good since then. I charge it every night because it's there so why not, but I'm sure I could get away with every other night.
Guest jasonic Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 If i understand correctly from previous forums on here, removing the memory card can improve battery life by quite a bit, i personally have never tried it, can't see how but i sure i read somewhere that it does.

I don't bother touching the card anymore and the phone could still easily go a couple of days between charges. I do keep bluetooth use to a minimum, however, that'll suck down the power.
