c500 pop email woes

hi all,

i've been using gmail successfully for emails on my c500-apart from constantly clearing my in folder evertime i connect, it's worked well.

until a week ago!

now i get the connecting

then sending and recieving

then recieving headers

then disconnecting...

i then get told that the settings might be wrong as there was trouble downloading messages.

-I HAVEN'T TOUCHED THTE SETTINGS EITHER ON THE PHONE NOR ON THE GMAIL SITE ITSELF.

what i have done is create another gmail account (differnt name etc) to see if the problem was the phone, but this new email account works like a charm-like the old one did!

i also tried making a new account for my old gmail addres-a replica of the one that isn't working-but that doesn't work either!

the problem is i need the old one for work etc and can't go changing my email address every 2 months because the phone decides it doesn't like that particular address anymore!

i've asked google who have told me that there isn't a problem with their pop facility and it must be something with the phone---has anyone got any ideas?

does the pop/smtp thing stop working after a while-does the service on the phone expire or something after 2 months?

any ideas people??

I assume you've checked your GMail account via a PC and there isn't a corrupt email message there that won't download to the phone?

GMail told me all I needed to know. I ended up forwarding my GMail box to another account because GMail is just too weird. One day my credentials fail, another day POP3 gets nothing when I have a half dozen new items in the inbox....it's always something with them. I'd be surprised if it was the phone and not GMail.
