I have a Tom Tom go and am considering using my SPV instead, can anyone tell me if the destination addreess for the Tom Tom moblie 5 programme will use the addresses & postcodes in contacts or does it have to be manually typed in like Tom Tom go.

Also is the speakerphone loud enough to hear the instructions.

I have just learnt how to acivate the speakerphone elsewhere on this forum. Is it loud enough to use as a hands free in the car.

Finally, I found a site recently that produced software to enable a mobile bluetooth hands free headset to double as a microphone for your pc to use with voice recognition software. I cannot find the site again. Has anyone got any info on this.

Waits patiently

I have TomTom Mobile 4 on my C500 and yes, it is loud enough to hear the instructions and yes it is loud enough to use hands free.

I have been doing both for the last 2 months.

been using tomtom mobile v4 on my e200 for about 3 months and it's the best gps package i have used,

Now transerring it all to my c500 and it seems to be the same, vocal commands are clear and highly audible even with background music from the car.

only at unusual junctions or the ocation split in the road do i need to look at the sceen and when i do it shows me in a glance what i need to know.

shockingly it handled the magic roundabout in hemel hemstead which i thought would throw it, incase you dont know it's 8 roundaoubts in one

i know on version 4 you cannot access your contacts which i though would be a big issue but as it holds the last 10 places you have been and it's very easy to add a new destination it hasnt been bad

Thankfully i have read in the new v5 this has now been linked so you can use contact address i am looking forward to trying this but havent as yet

I wish TOM TOM made US maps, I would buy it in an instant. Being in america, I am not too sure about which GPS to go with. I looked at a few, but only found AKL ? AVL to be the one to sell US based GPS for smart phones? Am I right in assuming this- or is there some other company that does it.

If anyone has a GPS system that they use with their C500 (I use w T-Mobile), or ATT 5600 in US.; please tell me your thoughts on them; because I would like to buy one as soon as possible (well technically I will be out of country for a while, so I might need an update when I cmoe back in August). But for now, which is the best GPS in US for smart phones.

Thanks for the input!!

Cheers

I bought the PPC US maps CD's from TomTom. If you install a map to a directory on your PC and then copy it on your smartphone it works just fine (I'm using TomTom v4 on a C500). My wife has been using it in the tri-state area and Florida. Well worth the investment! Don't register and don't fill in any codes when installing (that's what I did and it works). Btw, officially this is not supported.

I'm going to Canada for 2 weeks at the end of April and it would be great if I could get maps for my C500/TomTom. =p~
