Guest E200C500 Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 It's connecting my SPV C500 to my computer, in any way. I want to connect it using ActiveSync, via the USB Cable obviously, I installed ActiveSync on to my PC no problems, but when it gets to the "Get Connected" screen, that's when the problems begin. It's something you probably have all seen... To connect your device to this PC: 1.Connect the cable to the PC 2.Turn on the device 3.Place the device in its cradle I do all that, below that it also says, "ActiveSync should automatically detect your device" ..Which it doesn't. So I click "Next" to try and connect manually, it connects, there is a picture of a phone connected to a computer as if it's looking for the connection, and below it it says: "Looking for a mobile device: Checking on COM Port 1, Checking USB" . It doesn't connect, and after that process the screen says: COM 1 Available COM 2 Not installed Infrared Port(IR) Not installed USB USB is available Nothing can be done, had the phone for 3 weeks on Friday, trying almost every day. Have I made a stupid mistake here or is it more than that? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Guest Drewtech Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 If you are using a USB Hub then try using a direct USB port instead. If this doesn't work then I would suggest is uninstall and then re-install ActiveSynch then restart your PC.
Guest scm7rap Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I had this problem a few weeks ago after having already installed and used activesync successfully. Reboot both phone and PC, if you haven't tried it already, along with reinstalling activesync. Also make sure that your fireall, if oyu have one, is not blocking the connection. I assume you got Activesync on a CD with your C500 and therefore its prob activesync 3.7. Upgrade to 3.8 off the MS Web site. Thats what worked for me.
Guest confused and hungover Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 this may sound like a stupid question but do you know for sure your usb ports work on the PC?? i work in Pc tech support and i hear so many times that this is the cause of USB device problems...
Guest E200C500 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Yes it does definately work, I use an MP3 player with the USB Cable, no problems, thanks for the suggestions I'll give them a go.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Did you install Activsync before pluging the phone in for the first time?
Guest Looby Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005  I had this happen once, I switched off the phone and removed the battery, upon restarting it connected and since has been no problem. You must also check that your antivirus software permits active-sync in its settings.
