Guest rjm_27 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Is it possible to specify a ringtone that is on the Storage Card for a particular contact? I'm trying to set a ringtone that is on the Storage Card for a contact that I have in my phone since I don't have enough room on the internal storage. I have looked around and some people have said to put it on the Storage Card under the My Documents folder but that doesn't seem to work. Has anybody gotten a cutomized ringtone on a Storage Card to work for a particular contact?? Any help anyone can give me would be very much appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!
Guest vietpunk916 Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 Im trying to find out how to do this too because i recently found out how to make ringtones. I will post if i find out.
Guest Confused Stu Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 I used to use RJV Tweaks (from http://www.airfagev.com) and one of the options was setting the tones path from /windows/ to (say) /Storage Card/My Tones/ This always used to work on my C500 for personal ringtones right up until I upgraded to the new (unreleased and illegal) UK ROM, now it doesn't work anymore. Short version, if you're using the legal UK ROM, that program will do exactly what you're after! :)

Guest Confused Stu Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 Really? That's a surprise! On both my original SPV and my C500, it was in Contacts - Enter the person in question - Select Edit - and scroll down between "Web Page" and "File as" there's the "Custom Ring Tone" section. Seems odd if Motorola decided to switch it off.

It's possible for it to be populated with something other than a wave file after import from outlook. peace, Aielman
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 hMm after browsing my fone for an hour or 2 i dont think the mpx200 can store specific ringtones to contacts. Custom ringtones need to be in IPSM\Application Data\Sounds on the MPX200 and these are selected by editing your contacts. By tweaking the registry you can have custom ringtones on the storage card but it can make the phone unstable and prone to crashing or partial resets.
